Tebow got robbed in 2008. Most first place votes, but the midwest states purposefully left him off the ballet to make sure he lost to their boy. Was a freaking scam. He was the most valuable player hands down that year.

Tebow was the best college player of his era. I hated it too but even I sang his praises. Not the best QB but the best football player of that time period and no one else was close.

I thought Fulmer stole it from him while he was recovering from surgery. Oh wait, that was 1992.

if you're referencing Wuerffel it helps that only Heisman winners get to vote (alongside a handful of media) but he was no Peyton.

1996 Stats:

Wuerffel
207/360 57.5% 3625 yards 39 TDs 13 Ints 170.6 Rating

Manning
243/380 63.9% 3287 yards 20 TDs 12 Ints 147.7 Rating

You're right...Wuerffel was no Manning. He had more yards, more TDs, and a better QB rating.

64 percent completion vs. 57.5.

Run heavy O (Vols). Pass heavy O (Gators). Not sure where the hell that QBR comes from given DW's completion percentage.

EDIT - QBR hadn't been invented yet had it? You're using the old rating?

EDIT - QBR wasn't invented until 2011. Would be interesting to see retroactive QBRs.

Not to mention that Danny had to play FSU twice. UT's "marquee" OOC game was @ Memphis and then they got Northwestern in the ciTrUs Bowl.

Why are you comparing Danny's 1996 season with Peyton's? Peyton was a Heisman finalist in 1997.

I didn't, the other UF poster did.
It was your fellow Vol who proudly said that Danny wasn't worthy of the award...

Danny absolutely deserved that award. But, put him in a Pro style offense and he doesn't have anywhere near those kind of numbers.

Still disagree. DW was damn fine college QB but his stats are system based. His toughness was ALL HIM and there was none better.

Doesn't matter if it's system based. All of Tommie Frazier's stats are system based, and he was the best college football player I ever saw.

It does when the award is supposed to go the player not the system. Change that aspect and I won't argue it but best player should mean just that. Otherwise, hand it to the coach.

Woodson over Manning....you need to let that one go.

I think a lot of people excuse this now because of the NFL career Woodson had.

Number two on the biggest robbery would have to be the 1997 award. Just like Notre Dame getting their participation trophy in 1956, it was decided a defensive player needed to win the award, so Peyton Manning and Tennessee came in second once again.

He wasn't deserving. Woodson was. The end.
