Why so little is being stated about LSU’s fortunes

at QB now? Forever the opposing fan bases would get their digs in at LOLSU for having substandard quarterback play. Why no love now? The team has always been loaded on both sides of the ball, but quarterback play historically was about as good as Ed Orgeron’s grasp of the King’s English. Now that they got ol’ Burrow at the helm, you just might see the real eye of the Tiger this year, and I wouldn’t want to be the opposing teams... I’ll tell you that.

Why would we talk about them.

idk maybe because he's only played 1 game and had a mediocre at best stat line?

He’s going to have to do it in the SEC. though the stats didn’t show it he had a nice game, looking forward to see how he builds on it going forward.

I didn't watch the game. I've seen a lot of jubilation from LSU fans about the QB. But, all I have to judge are the stats and they're pretty meh.

For some reason, a guy that completed 45% of his passes, had 5.8 yards per completion, and led his offense to a total of 17 first downs (3-16 on third down) and 296 yards of offense against a defense that ranked in the 40s last year doesn’t strike fear into my soul.
I’m not sure why.

You obviously didn't watch the game. LSU sat on the ball for the whole second half.

1 game in, and a 45% completion percentage that ranks 13 of 14 among league starters last week.

Because the guy is 13th out of 14 SEC QBs in QB Rating after 1 week?
Completed less than 50% of his passes?
5.8 YPA?
He might end up being really good, but he was a decent game manager and nothing else week 1. Though to be fair, that makes him the T2nd best QB at LSU in the last 7 years.

Because he looked like a big ole meh ball.
Average doesn’t get talked about. Good gets talked about. Bad gets talked about.

Sitting on the ball doesn’t cause your QB to throw for 45% and 5.8 YPC. That’s pretty awful, and no offensive gameplan - no matter how conservative - revolves around not completing passes.

13 incompletions
3 throw aways
3 drops
Twice hit as he was throwing.
Stats can be deceiving.

Stats can definitely be deceiving, Joe had a very nice game. He showed poise in the pocket and made good decisions with the football. He’s only been on campus a few months, he’s still finding his way with his teammates. For game 1 it was very encouraging, not saying he’s the next Tom Brady but he showed enough to make LSU fans think he can be the kind of guy we need to have a productive offense.
