Why shouldn’t a conference championship be a requirement for playoff invite?

It just seems weird having a third place conference team over other conference champions in the playoff.

Because not everyone plays a championship game?

Because REC won't allow it, plus ESPN hates LSU

That needs to change.

Because frick you, that’s why.

Because one game doesn’t a season make.

What if a 9-3 team won their conference? Or an 8-4 team?

Because Jim Delaney rigged their divisional lineup in just this fashion to give their Eastern division winner a cakewalk in their championship game.

If you have a 30+ point loss yet still good enough to win your conference, then maybe your conference is not good enough.

They probably wouldn’t make it over other conference champions.

They should expand the playoffs to 6 teams, make the conference championship a requirement, and have the five conference champions with an at large bid. #1 and #2 earn a bye, and #3 through #6 play, and the winners to play #1 and #2.

All major conferenes now have a championship game.
In fact, next year when the Sun Belt starts their title game, all conferences will have a title game.
The correct answer is because not all conferences are created equal.
Going 9-4 and winning the PAC 12 (hypothetical) shouldn't get you a spot over an 11-1 sec team.

Eliminate conference title games
8 team bracket.
First 4 games played this weekend at top 4 seeds
If that was case OSU and TcU would not have been in the 8.
uCF and Bama would have been in the 8

Because the playoff is for the best 4 teams in the country.

This is a strong argument because of the situation we are currently faced with. It’s also a money maker. This idea seems to have all up side.

What would you do about Notre Dame?

Weak. You don't belong in CFP. Justice for PSU for getting screwed last year though.

Because teams can still win conferences by losing to the crappier teams in their conference instead of the good ones?

2011 - UCLA had a 5-4 conf record and played in the conf title game.
