I didn't read the wall of junk the OP put up. Just had to put in that the majority of the students are huge col reb fans. And I for one will only see him as our mascot and do will my children.I've talked to athletes in my classes they don't even care one but.

The majority of our message board fans I have never met real fans like them. So rant please don't think that we all feel this way.

most of us are proud if our traditions

I love Colonel Reb. I have Ole Miss swag with Colonel Reb on it just like any other Ole Miss fan.

What's so bullshite about your faction is that you think what we're doing and supporting is motivated by some sort of cowardice or shame. It isn't. We're motivated by a broad, pragmatic worldview.

It's just an issue of perspective, but when you turn it into some sort of issue of pride or even character, you cheapen the discussion. So stop it, jackass.

Do you seriously believe that the enormous majority of white students at schools like Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, and LSU aren't racist? You must not speak with many students.

Cdawg, you know that you're in the clear when it comes to most of our frustration at Mississippi State fans. Most of the Bulldawgs here on the Rant are good folks, probably the type of folks I would enjoy drinking and watching ball with.

basically why I stay here. I actually get along with most Rebs here. It just gets tiring hearing all the racism remarks about MS when you live out of state and the residents that never leave the state don't see nor care of it's own image.

I graduated from Ole Miss a few years back, so I don't regularly converse with students TODAY, but in the early-2000's when I was there I certainly saw some bigotry, but I also saw lots of students of different backgrounds getting along very well.

It's not as bad as people want to believe it is, nor is it as good as people want to believe it is.

Our rivalry is an odd but fun one, as most in-state ones are, because if you grew up in Mississippi, you undoubtedly know plenty of people who are fans of whatever school you're supposed to hate. We're all pretty different as far as fan bases go, but as far as actual people go we're pretty much the same.

So while I rag on State and all, I can't deny having had a great time visiting old high school buddies in Starkville. That's just the nature of the Egg Bowl I guess.

The State of Mississippi is trying to improve itself. How can it pull itself from being the poorest and stupidest state? Government money. How can the government get money? By bringing in Industry to give jobs to citizens of the state and to tax to help government programs such as the Education department.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with this point. Government money does nothing but make slaves out of those it distributes money to.

The sense of entitlement does nothing to instill an entrepreneurial spirit.

Since LBJ's experimental Great Society, this country has thrown more money at the problem of education than ever with absolutely zero benefits.

Compare the amount spent per US pupil in the US to others in the industrialized world and then compare the results in subjects such as math and science. It's pathetic.

Federal control of education is an unconstitutional act and the corrupt unions (federal and state) that control it should be thrown out on their ear.

False. Actually Kentucky was a Confederate state as well as a Union state. We had a two governments and a star to represent our state on both the Union flag and Confederate flag. It's the middle star on the Confederate battle flag. It was said back then (I forget by who) that Louisville had more Southern belles than the rest of the Southern states combined. Western and Central KY generally sided with the Confederacy, while the Eastern part generally sided with the Union.

This part already answered

No, it was just NO that fell early, BR not until 1863,while N. La never did. At the Battle of Mansfield Generals Taylor and Mouton kicked the yankee asses all the way back to NO. North and Southwest La was one of the last commands to surrender as part of the Army of Trans-Mississippi.

Russellville convention is what you are referring to. . .

That was about like a handful of guys declaring, quite wrongly, that they spoke for the people of KY.

And to Capt. Revision, Baton Rouge was Union occupied in 1862. The incestual rebels got their asses kicked trying to re-take it.

Some of you will snicker and guffaw and post stupid childish animated emoticons at this, but Ole Miss' English department is perhaps the best in the SEC. We attract a lot of great English professors because of our literary tradition

Thank you for this not that I am an ole miss fan but I do go to school at ole miss and jokes like that that are baseless get old quick.

FWIW like I said I am by no means a ole miss supporter but have lived in Mississippi all my life and it seems that UM can't win. If they don't change they are accused of being racist when they do change things that could be perceived as racist seems like most ppl except a few and especially on TD just use it as a reason to keep talking about how ole miss is racist and not acknowledge that UM is trying to improve itself

You do realize the clan has shown up in cities across the nation. Does that mean that in each of those cities a bunch of people are racist?
