As it is, I think LSU got Bama's best shot and still won the contest
I don't agree. There were many drives around the LSU 30 that stalled out due to stupid penalties. Bama had 12 plays from scrimmage 10 yards or over. LSU only 5.
The decision to get greedy on the long FGs flipped the field and Wing saved LSU's arse when he hit the 73 yarder.
I don't think Saban gets as greedy the next time.

That was all that needed to be said.

So y'all have stopped stating that Bama won the NC in 73 since they lost to Notre Dame?
Yeah we just swapped out the 66 title which made us a 3peat.

It would make literally no sense in the world for the college football season to end like that.
It might not make any sense but that's the way the conference commissioners designed it. They realized some years the best two teams might come from the same conference.
LSU is playing for the SECC this weekend. I would rather Bama be in that position than sitting at home so enjoy it. Unless LSU were to get blown out, the game won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

If he was trying 40 plus yard field goals... and is only 2 of 9 on those for the year... it is not exactly a surprise when bama makes 2 of 5 attempts (one block doesn't count against kicker IMO)
He wasn't 2 for 9 by the time of the LSU game. He was 1 for 3. Hit one 45 yarder and missed two 53 yarders before LSU. Don't know many NFL kickers nailing 53 yarders consistently.

So perhaps saban should have been more conservative like miles
That's what I said. First field goal ok. After that punt deep.

well, if he's only called on to kick 40+ then he only made one all year before the LSU game... because he looks like he is 2 for 9 this year on attempts
He only attempted 3 before the LSU game. 2 were over 50 yards. He hit 1 from 45. Not too many NFL kickers going to hit those consistently.

The punt return by OBJ that was called back would have helped get us in field position, called back because the HB tomahawked Dre and he flopped like a lil bitch. We didn't move the ball, punted, then your boys were DONE. Bama's O couldn't stop the rush, Bama's D couldn't stop Michael Ford. GASSED!
Can't cross your own 45. Gassed?
Ford got to the 7 after LSU started from the 25. Tried 1 more time to punch it in before having to kick a FG. Gassed. Sure.

Wait, so you are telling me that the closest Alabama got to the LSU goal line was the 17 ??? Yet in the same breath quitly asserting that Alabama outplayed LSU ??
The result for both teams were the same except LSU got even closer. What does that say about your offense?

how many has he hit from 40+ this year?
honest question because I've read he was 1 of 7 from 40+
He's only called on to kick 40+. He only had 3 attempts before the LSU game this year and he hit a 45 yarder. Kent State and Ole Miss he tried a 50+ and that is definitely out of his range.

What happened in those last 6 minutes? BAMA WAS GASSED!!!!!!!!!
LSU didn't cross their own 45 in the last 6 minutes.

Better in that they were gassed and out of breath for the last 8 minutes of the game?
How does a gassed team keep another team from crossing their own 45?

Their ability to flip the field won the game.
Yep. But it was still winnable. All Saban had to do was not get greedy in OT by trying to pass on 1st down.

did you know that the 46 yd fg was the longest fg the entire season? they dont know how close they came from only scoring just 3 points
Did you know that Foster hit a 45 yarder against Tennessee. He's hit +40 several times last year so it wasn't like he couldn't do it. That's why Saban sent him out there. I wouldn't have made that choice considering LSU couldn't do squat with the ball.

What do you think making "big plays" is?
You said more. I said at the right time.
Bama clearly had more big plays from the line of scrimmage but the 73 yard Wing punt possibly kept Bama from FG range. The INT at the LSU 1 foot line was crucial and the sack on AJ in OT was too.
LSU made them at the right crucial times.

For 3 straight quarters, absolutely everything went Alabama's way - every fumble, every interception, every call (but one), yet Alabama could only muster ONE legit scoring opportunity without help. The other 4 required an interception (2), or a crucial personal foul call (2) without which Alabama never even attempts but ONE field goal the ENTIRE game. Then, at the very end of the third, LSU gets its first interception and the wheels begin fall off the Saban express. IN ITS LAST THREE POSSESSIONS, ALABAMA HAD A TOTAL OF TWO - !TWO! - PLAYS FOR POSITIVE YARDS. In retrospect, the outcome was never in doubt after the beginning of Q4, exactly like every other LSU game this year.
LSU kicked a FG in the 2nd quarter. That was after they drove the ball to the Bama 2 also. So Bama didn't have everything going for them in the first 3 quarters.
LSU - 2 INTs. 1 FG.
Bama - 2 INTs. 1 FG.
In the 4th quarter Bama drove deep into LSU territory only to have the Maze pass picked off so the wheels weren't falling off.
If the game was never in doubt why was 6-6 at the end of regulation?
You must have been watching a different game than I was.

The motto of this LSU team all season long. They can turn it in in an instant.. forgive me, but I'm not all that impressed at a team driving the ball to midfield and then getting stopped outside of FG range. That's just good defense.
Wasn't just to the 50. LSU 27,33,31,17,29,28.
Great defense is stopping the other team from scoring TD's on their own 2 and 6 yard line and never letting the other team cross the 50 but 3 times.

You must have forgotten the game. Brad Wing was putting the ball in places that it shouldn't have even been in the first place.
Brad Wing had a 73 yard punt at a crucial point in the game from really deep in his own territory.
When it came down to it, LSU's players stepped up and made big plays when it counted most... and that's why they won.
That's what I said. LSU made the right plays at the right time. The biggest was the sack of AJ in OT.

In OT,
We rushed the ball towards the goal line, set our kicker up in the middle of the field, and kicked the winning field goal in OT after making your team go arse backwards, NO? We stepped on the line or it would have been 6 right there, NO?
Nice try at a deflection but we were talking about LSU in OT not Alabama NO?
Ford rushes for 3.
Ford rushes for 15.
After Ford stepped out at the 7, Jefferson went left on the next play and got stuffed. The next play they went to the middle to the Bama 6. Why not go to the middle first and just kick the FG? They're already in chip shot range. Is 1 yard going to make a difference?
