Why not just roll with the BCS computer rankings

And let the chips fall where they may? And in doing so, eliminate the two pie in the sky DEI slots, also.

G5 schools get butthurt that it’s based off of facts and not feelings

Those have problems too. Something's got to give though letting Disney run the show has exacerbated many existing issues.

Less drama and less money. That’s why

Everything will have flaws. It was pretty decent with 4 teams. By the time you can’t make the top 12 (or 16) via the BCS model, it’s probably clearly articulable and reasonable as to why you’re not getting a crack at the natty.

Its interesting how it turns out exactly like DEI- a "seat at the table" turns into being held to a lower set of standards and getting fast tracked over more deserving teams.
I dont know how anyone could have listened to the show on espn yesterday where everyone on there was complaining how james madison and tulane were unfairly getting into the playoffs and not instantly think about how the same logic applies to what corporations have been doing with hiring minority candidates.

Weight was taken off the BCS computers after Southern Cal was left out in 2003. The media narrative was if the humans agree a team is #1, why should a computer overrule that? So they changed the BCS programming so the polls mattered
You can think of that what you will, but the BCS was a mathematical formula. In my opinion there is not a unified formula to explain all of football prowess.

Last year it gave us Boise as a freaking 3-seed with a bye (which gave Penn State an easy win in round 2).
Now this year we get two group of 5 teams. At least it prevented ND from waltzing in with their trash schedule.

Take the AP component out and put in Vegas, and yes.
Its like I've said already, they won't do that because it takes control away from the execs and makes it accurate and we can't have that.

From a prior post on this, I was told that all the computers used in the past measured different categories.
But I agree with the idea that they replace the “opinion factor” with math.

G5 needs their own playoffs. Midweek games in the Holidays that matter.

Is the 12 best teams? No. Should it be? Yes.

So, you enjoy all the arguing over “who’s better than who”?

Sounds like you turned this into a political boards situation.

The NCAA is a notoriously pro-DEI slanted institution because it is governed by insufferably woke member institutions' Presidents as a voting body.
The ADs, when they do have any say so, (which is rarely), are instructed how to plan and vote by their Presidents and Boards and, at times, even their State's governors if the States are providing any funding whatsoever.
That how it was first established that most flagship and other major universities within a given state are now required to schedule one in state lesser subdivision program each season (where such programs exist) providing those schools with major paydays.
It is, in essence, socialism and redistribution of wealth.
That's why the playoffs were approved ... provided the non-P5 conferences were awarded/afforded slots.
It's all very counterproductive.

Lord forbid if they ever pull an upset in the current model.

Yep 12 teams is a good number if we get rid of DEI autobids

That is the way it should be done. Get rid of the suits.

Let's go to 16 teams and NO AQs, at all. 8 first-round home games and no byes. If a G5/6, or ND is in top 16 of CFP Rankings, they get in, but just take the top 16!

I would like to stay at 12 and no DEI but I would take 16 as outlined by you over the current system all day long
