I know they’ve got players but digging through some numbers and they are legitimately awful.

What are the reasons and do LSU fans think it’s fixable?

It is awful, barely fixable this year, but we will luck up and win a game or 2 with a fantastic defensive play now and then. Other than being porous, not tackling well, being unsure of where to be and what to do, guessing badly on the defensive play call, not lining up correctly, lining up 2 yards off the ball, etc., we are doing pretty well. Geaux Tigers!

Losing the defensive captain seems to have been the final straw with the least talented secondary I can recall since the 90s. Scheme is off and the players have lost all confidence.

Idk - it looks like tackling and maybe lots of missed assignments or just out of position

Bad form, bad coaching, lack of aggressiveness, bad tackling, and probably the scheme is too complicated when you're using young players and transfers.

I expect a boatload of new defensive coach hires by end of season.

LSU is Brian Kelly’s retirement gig. Why would he care if the defensive is bad

Coaching and scheme are suspect, but they also don’t have the same level of guys they are used to trotting out there.

Southland Conference players in the secondary generally don't work out.

We don't have any legit corners. We have one linebacker. Our defensive line doesn't like to stop anyone trying to run past them.

So, we can't defend the pass. We can't defend the run. I'm not sure there's anything we can defend?

It is terrible and I’m not sure it’s fixable.

It sucks arse because the offense is one of the best we’ve ever had.

If the defense was just serviceable we would make some noise this season.

But it is historically bad and not sure you can fix it this season.

It’s mainly the secondary.

It is historically bad for our standards of play at that part of the field.

One of the worst we’ve had.

What is the latest on Perkins? I saw him go down in the Ole Miss game. Will he be back soon?

Transfer Portal U baby. Kelly and the coaches love it. Sure beats having to get out there on the recruiting trail and get some top flight recruits. I mean what former Sunbelt all conference player wouldnt want to come play at LSU. According to Kelly he just needs to coach them up even if they have average talent.

They also aren't generating takeaways
