Why is the Alabama defense so terrible against good quarterbacks?

Last night it was because the offense could sustain drives in the 3rd quarter.

The other answer is in your question:
quote:

good quarterbacks

The better question is:
Why does LSU lose to mediocre QBs?

Their DBs can't backpedal.
They routinely get beat in coverage when they face good QBs.

Quarterbacks that have given Nick Saban fits while at Alabama:

Tim Tebow
Cam Newton
Johnny Manziel
Deshaun Watson

2 Things, Alabama couldnt get any pass rush in the 4th cause the offense could not make 1st downs in the second half. Bama was gassed late, and you cant play man all night without a pass rush, just to hard to cover that long.

AU, LSU, A&M should be embarrassed. I list these teams because they routinely recruit at or better than Clemson and this year they were scared shite less to even attempt a pass past the LOS. I saw three teams at least try and challenge Bama's defense this year and all three moved the ball.

Great quarterbacks beat most teams. It's just covered for 3 solid days on Sportscenter when they beat Alabama.

Cam
Tebow
Johnny Football
Watson

We beat all but one of those QBs but people only want to talk when we lose to them.

It's not so much "good" QBs. The SEC has had some good QBs in the last couple of years, but they've had very few great ones.

There were no great QBs in the SEC in 2016. Most of them weren't even good.

Even in 2015, you had Chad Kelly and Dak Prescott. Kelly had a strong enough supporting cast. Dak had to do it all himself and the closest he ever came was a 5 point loss the previous year.

They're an amazing defense, especially on the line. However, when a QB is in the shotgun all night and can also make plays with his legs any defense is going to give up yardage. Also helps that he has a very quick release. The Alabama D was the last thing on the list of items why Bama lost that game.

Even Bo Wallace had a pretty good game against Bama in 2014. He went 18/31, 251 yards, 3TD

I know that this is a troll but I will bite. That Defense is awesome but anytime a great, mediocre or even bad Defense is out on the field 100 plays against a great Offense things will happen. I am disappointed that Bama lost but its not the end of the world.
