You seem to think blue blood means something it doesn't.

Blue bloods are the teams that were popular when the sport started to gain national TV attention. As a result, they generally have the largest fan bases and most loyal fans. In the old days, TV time and things like that weren't as common, so being on a team that got on national TV was a big deal. Those types of things helped with recruiting and all that.

That's all it means.
That's probably the best definition I've seen

To further clarify, these were the conference powers (thus, teams that got on TV) back in the day. Texas was the big dog of the SWC, got to the Cotton Bowl a good bit.

Now to be fair to LSU, part of their early mystique was the night games broadcast on WWL. That was a clear channel station; to those who don't know what that meant, it was an AM station with exclusive rights to a frequency (870 in this case), and they were allowed to crank up the power at night. Thus, probably half the nation could hear LSU games on Saturday nights, after their own teams had already played.

od example in a different sport is UConn in Basketball. They aren't a traditional blue blood, but they do have 6 titles now, so I think it's a valid question to wonder if/when/how that changes.. I honestly don't know, but it doesn't mean anything about today or going forward, but it is a term that describes the past..

It’ll be a good debate for a bunch of 16 year olds on the rant in 2055

It's almost as if people come here to talk about these things.

Personally, I find people like you extremely ignorant, mostly as a result of being a bitch. Rather than look at history in the context of when it happened and how things were to understand, you want to judge it based on the present. And of course, always from the perspective of a victim, as if the titles that were awarded was somehow screwing over someone.

So glad I was born before they outlawed education with the DoE.

Which has nothing to do with the fact that national title claims are mythical.

When I was growing up, I listened to the majority of games on the radio. Alabama got more TV time than most, but it still wasn't a ton.

I always associate the LSU game with dove hunting and listening to the game on the radio.

Learn what the frick the word mythical means dumbass.

National championships are AWARDED by different associations throughout history. It's actually very interesting stuff the way things have evolved, the politics of it all and so forth.

They aren't just "claimed" out of no where for no reason as you ignorantly imply.

What's funny? Even without the fuzzy math the AD made up in the 80s to pad the stats.. Bryant's 6, Stallings 1, and Saban's 6 is far beyond what any other college football program has ever done

Well, at least you are somewhat learning since I'm the one who brought that up the last time you cried about national titles.

And again, take it up with Notre Dame because that's where all that stuff originates.

Depends on the Kool Aid you drink

In that part of the USA

Oklahoma > Nebraska > Texas > Arkansas

If you are not #1 in your region, how can your blood be blue

Sprinkles are for winners, not also rans according to Flo of Progressive

I mean if Hertz was #2 to Avis, how could they be a blue blood.

Yes, it's called history. Knute Rockne was the Notre Dame coach who did it shortly before his death. Asking math polls to go back in history so he/Notre Dame could claim previous years national championships, which Notre Dame has claimed since.

Bear apparently wouldn't allow it, but after his death someone went and did the same thing with the math claims. And again, the 1941 isn't legit, but it was claimed to be 1 ahead of Notre Dame.

Of which is part of the Alabama vs Notre Dame "rivarly" of the 60's and 70's which went beyond the football games themselves.
