The only one that bothered me in recent memory was the Iowa loss. My grandmother who lives in Iowa called to rub it in.

You can't run smack on grandma, so I just had to take it.

Not a hook, but I appreciate your answers nevertheless. So my follow on question is, at what point are you concerned that this is no longer a series of unfortunate events, but a pattern?

When more Clemson-like losses happen. We should have come out and won that game, but we didn't. 2012 was not similar to 2009 or 2011. Those losses were aberrations and unlikely ever to be repeated due to the specific circumstances.

If more 2012 bowls happen, then we will have an issue. So far, we only have 1 in a row. Not much of a pattern.

edit: fixed 2010 to 2009.

We obviously suck at Bowl games. Unless it's against Texas A&M.

Because we play decent teams, also because you take a selective sample size.

I included all years in the last 4. Seems like more than that might be reaching if we're examining things from a "recent" perspective, yes?

This is actually the reason.

21-20-1 isn't a selective sample size, however.

I'm surprised at their recent bowl results.

Sadly, we can't play Aggy every year.

From 1967-1974, Bear Bryant and Alabama were 0-7-1 in bowl games. Why the struggle?

Coach Bryant was out pulling a Spurrier.

Interdasting.

Bear did have quite the decline from '67 thru '70 -- 4 years with 3 or more losses or ties each year. Fixed the regular season issues in '71 and then couldn't win a bowl game again until the '75 season.

How did Bama fans keep from hurling themselves off stadium ramps back then?

Bowl games were just an exhibition game back then, obviously.
