I think Pittman has earned enough good will for people not to panic.
Portal works both ways.
Portal works both ways.

Unless we make some huge moves in the portal, folks are going to be routinely dropping 400 yards passing on next year's defense.
We definitely need a strong portal game, not just as a reaction to players leaving, but also to fill recruiting holes in an NIL world where Arkansas isn't really playing yet.
The only reason we didn't give up 400 yards passing this year was we had the good fortune of playing teams with struggling QBs. In those games, there were multiple WRs running alone behind the secondary quite often, but the QBs missed.
We played 3 teams that had good passing QB's (Bama, OM, & MSU). Young hung almost 600 yards on us. Rogers eclipsed 400. Corral would have gotten to 400, but only had 21 attempts since they were too busy running all over us (2 guys over 100 & Corral at 96).
Hate losing anyone, but our secondary was ripe for anyone with a passing pulse this year. Hell, the entire reason we had to stay in 3-3-5 was to hopefully have another body back WHEN coverage was blown.

People have already replied to most of the question but I'll hit the high points again. Quite a few of the players leaving are leaving because we took them in our "we need as many warm bodies as possible" phase. They would like some playing time before the end of their football career with the transfer portal that is a lot easier to do now.
It is going to be a pain to replace the DBs that scampered off but, at the same time, and I mean this in the nicest way, while someone like Foucha made quite a few big plays for Arkansas he also made some really bone headed decisions while playing safety. Part of a big problem we had with our secondary... if your QB can throw an accurate deep ball you could name your score against the Hogs this year.
We probably need to rebuild the secondary, even if it means issues next season, because folks are going to realize if you just air it out we can't stop you from throwing deep on us.
I'm sorry to see Hornsby go but he's the least surprising guy to leave the team this year. Unreal speed, needs to work on his throwing and reads, and... he was caught in the numbers game. We aren't benching KJ Jefferson in favor of Hornsby. That is a long time to sit on the bench waiting for your chance. He can go somewhere else and either compete for the starting job right away or walk in the door and be handed it.
I won't lie. Its going to be a pain to replace some of them. I wish all of them the best of luck with their new programs. I fear that some of them are going to find the grass is not always greener but I can see why they'd make the jump.

Not that hyped on Honrnsby as a qb. He can’t contribute in the passing game and when it was a designed run it was either big gain, big loss or a fumble.
I wish he would move to wide receiver or do.

His name isn't in the portal.

Gonna be lots of disappointment amongst the portal guys. Reportedly 3,000 in the portal to be spread among 128 teams, assuming all these guys think they can stay at the FBS level. That's 24 portal guys per team. A team can take a max of 7 in excess of their 25 limit, assuming they have a minimum of 7 transfer out. That's enough room for 896 guys.
2,000+ going to find themselves in the cold, at least at the FBS level.

Well then these players need to be a bit more patient.

It’s been happening. Guys hit the portal and don’t find a scholarship available elsewhere. It’s a dangerous game.

A lot of these players need to come to terms that they aren't as good as people have been telling them. Just accept the way things are and play the game.

EDIT: Hornsby has been added to portal on 247
I'm looking at 247's portal page and Hornsby is not listed. They seem to keep the page updated pretty quickly.
Hornsby has great speed, hasn't proven his passing ability yet. Think he threw it far enough, but not that accurately in what little I remember seeing.
Word is Lucas Coley is a better QB, ran the scout team this year.
And yes, waiting for confirmation to see if LSU frickery is involved with a couple or three of these guys.

LSU is probably involved with Brooks and Foucha. Just a business decision they said or it could be an excuse for being pushed out. Don't know.

Which has made NWA a destination for just about every cyclist in the midwest and pumps a ton of money in the local economy. The scene there is top notch.

It is but the grand kids who are involved don't care for athletics and Arkansas doesn't get any type of donations unless it involves academics.

LOL. Like there's SEC starters lining up to enter the portal and leave their respective schools.
Oh wait......shite......
