I hate our fricking coach with a passion. Perno was God compared to this clown. I’m not as diehard every-day-day with the baseball program as I am with the other 2 sports, but I do invest in performance during the season. Take away football and our A-department is an abortion and could potentially be worse than that.

Basically that’s what it boils down to as well; finding the right coach.
Someone that is willing to work the portal, recruit tirelessly, and motivate players. If they’re in the SEC, they can play. Just need the right coach to push their buttons as needed.

I’m far from qualified to give a detailed answer here, but I’ll give it a shot. Facilities aren’t great, and the coach isn’t that highly thought of.
I also think UGA would always struggle to get the same level of support for baseball as LSU, MS schools, etc. due to the popularity of the Braves. There’s only so many people in the area who are looking to attend baseball games in person, and most of those will choose the Braves over UGA.

Ignore the responses from meatheads. TylerD gave you the best answer. We’ve had a series of limp wristed AD’s up until Brooks, who has been a refreshing change. UGA has generally been a top 5 team in every sport but men’s basketball until the last 10 years with some good coaches and good state demographics. As Jim Collins would say good is the enemy of great. Dooley was a better AD than Head Coach and from 90 to 2005 UGA won NC’s in men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, swimming and diving, baseball, equestrian, and gymnastics….and Georgia was much better in men’s basketball. Women’s basketball, and softball too. When Dooley retired, the AD lost its influence and leverage against a university President trying to be UVA. President Morehead is much wiser to the revenue importance of athletics recognizing they’re not mutually exclusive and we’ve made some good hires. We need to make more, including a baseball coach and depending on White’s next few years…a men’s basketball coach.

Yea this was sort of my point in starting this thread, other than I love baseball.
With the right AD, coach, buy in from the fans, etc., UGA could definitely be on par with SC/Vandy/Florida in the east… I didn’t include UT because they haven’t won anything big to be included with the other schools.
