Having lived in both states for numerous years a piece, Bama is much less of a shite hole than Louisiana (outside of NOLA). It's not even close. At. All.

Nope. Been around SE Louisiana? Swamps, oil refineries, un-inhabited marshland/open fields of nothingness and ugly as shite.
But yes, outside of that, I'd agree most of the SE United States is the same. Which goes back to my point of why I find it funny when LSU fans make fun of the state of 'bama for the reasons I mentioned above.
