It's not a good thing. I like football just as much as the next southerner but it doesn't rule my life, i.e. Updick, Crazy Bama Lady, This Fine Lady, Krystal Ball sack dude

This proletariat

Proposing at a spring football game!? EWWW Might as well propose at your best friends wedding amitrie?!?

And this guy is funny lookin

So what I'm really trying to say is. Alabamians, stop taking a sport that isn't even professional so cereal. Step up to the next level and go full saintard with the rest of the south.

I think they take it as serious as most of the south. They just get more press coverage cuz they win a lot.

Ehhh I've lived in a few different places down south. The smaller the town the more seriously they take the game.

No MLB
No NBA
No NFL
No truly elite major college sport other than football (like a kentucky, kansas, duke, unc, ucla, etc basketball program)

I lived there for 2.5 years, and it's just a different scene man. I have never in my life seen a larger group of people (in this case, the whole state) tie most of their lives into something like 18 year olds playing a game. They also, not coincidentally, have an extremely large number of wal mart fans that will yell rowww taaahhhddd at you at the gas station yet they've never been inside the tuscaloosa city limits.

If you aren't going hunting, to the beach, or to birmingham, well I guess you might as well be talking crap to someone about football since your options at that point are limited.

Everyday it's the same thing.

Wake up.
Put in teeth.
Yell at oven mit.
Rake dirt lawn with a broom.

(inspirational music from herpes commercial)
But during football season; during these blessed few months of the year...
They get to vicariously live through an 18 year old that just got paid to play there. It's a chance to don the crimson cut offs.
A time to bring all 11 children and counting with them to the games and bond.

And in these moments...These sweet moments that don't stay long enough... They get to escape the harsh reality that is their real lives...

Roll on Tide.... Roll on

I dont know. It's a naturally beautiful state. If you like the out of doors, it's nice. They just had the Bass Masters up here. There are more PHDs per capita in Hunstsville than anywhere. I know, it's hard to believe. Talladega has two races a year. The coast is nice.
