The talent is there. All it takes is changing mindset and changing schemes. I am not saying they’ll turn it around but I wouldn’t be shocked if the turnaround comes sooner than later.
Herman was getting his backside handed to him by TAMU in recruiting. BAMA was pulling texas legacy players out of there when he got fired. Yes, the shorthorns have recruited for a Big 12 team and schedule. In the SEC they are Arkansas.

UT had two #3 classes in 2018 and 2019. Both ahead of a&m.

Only thing Sark is turning around is the tequila bar scene in Austin.

But going back on the soft defenses, Vince was the real deal but a lot folks may forget how solid your defense was that year. Credit Chiz after being at Auburn as DC? I may have singled out Foster but he was definitely no Michael Huff that game. And yes, I know it's only a one game sampling. But in the past, you had big uglies likes Dibbles, Crowder, Wright, Orakpo(sp), Okam, I don't think Texas has had anything like that since.

Those kids are going to be freshmen and sophomores. The 18 and 19 class will be juniors and seniors by now

Tell that to Herman? He got fired because the recruiting handwriting was on the wall. Jimbo and TAMU were beating him for the best Texas recruits. Hell ALABAMA was beating Herman for the best texas could offer. Take it to the bank, it caused the shorthorns to flex big time.

This year's DL might be the closest we've seen to that kind of talent since. Probably the most talented room on the team.

Changing schemes will be easy, changing the mindset will take a lot better coach than the guys they've been hiring. Maybe they take another run at Urbs in a few years.
