Is the Bama job open?

I don't think Bama would ever want him either. They know well enough that he is an average coach without those assistants.

Couldn't you make same argument about Saban or any coach.

I doubt most people could even name Clemson's two OCs. They were promoted from within after Morris left. Morris was overrated in my view and he was a big reason Clemson lost so many to SC during their 5 year run.

The only way he will leave is if he has a falling out with the Clemson AD, president or somebody else at Clemson.

No point of us banging heads but I’m telling you tonight that the Bama job is the only job he would leave Clemson for.

And he would come to it tonight if it was open and he was offered.

You are so smart and know so much but you will never know the pull of Mother Tide.

That's some mighty impressive mind reading of Dabo....

It reminds me of those hostile Ohio State fans who talked down to me and said Carman Jackson would go to OSU. Then he came to Clemson. lol

I think you are too much of an Alabama homer to be objective about this.

Dabo just built a castle outside of Clemson to live in, and that part of South Carolina is very beautiful, especially in the fall. I would be surprised if Dabo leaves Clemson when Saban retires.

I dont doubt your sincerity Libertarian, but Willie Taggert is going to make the ACC forget they ever heard of Dabo Swaggert.

Exactly.

If Clemson cans him for the disloyalty, and he takes UNC for instance, the Tar Heel job will eat him alive.

My daughter was in the MBA program at Bama with Dabo. They were on teams together to solve problems and she got to know him fairly well. She tells me he has too much Bama in him not to take the job if offered.
Believe what you will. Time will tell.

Tillman, I have it on word from some semi-trustworthy Alabama doctors I know, that Dabo would actually, surprisingly, love to have the Auburn job, because some people back in his hometown, including an old girlfriend, would be highly impressed by him coming back home and taking on the role of spoiler to his alma mater.

Ok, so do I believe that to be completely true? Yes I do. Not only is the allure of an ex girlfriend watching your every move appealing to the senses, but Dabo has a huge dose of Brother Oliver in him. He's his own man. Bama is fine. Sure. But he's Dabo Swinney, and Dabo Swinney follows to the beat of his own drum.

On the flip side, Auburn would not take him, so it's a moot point.

Auburn would not take Kirby Smart when they had a chance. They got GusBus. Dey ain’t taking Dabo. Not with the Bus on deck for 7 mo years.

So Dabo should leave Clemson and take the UNC job.

I'm good with that.

Crazy how many threads I've seen on here about Dabo going to coach at Alabama, given Saban does not appear to be retiring anytime soon and Dabo has it rolling at Clemson.

If I was an ALabama fan, I'd just be enjoying the ride with Saban....wouldn't be worried about the next coach.

Tillman don’t take it so hard. Dabo will do the right thing.

He will be at Bama one day. It’s fate.

Ok, i don't think Clemson will have any problem finding another good coach if that day comes.

I'd have a hard time leaving a mountain lake resort type of environment to go live in ....Tuscaloosa.

Just sayin'.

lol

Dabo would have to know that one mediocre season at Bama could get him fired too. lol That's a crazy fanbase.

I’m sure Lake Tuscaloosa will work just fine for Dabo.

It seems like with Alabama's 'tradition' , facilities, etc they wouldn't need to spend max dollars on their next coach.

There are plenty of good coaches out there that Bama could hire and pay less than Dabo. If an aloof person like Saban can recruit kids to Alabama, why does Bama need Dabo. lol

I would also think Saban is grooming a person to take over for him when he hangs it up.

Hiring somebody who has not worked for Saban would be like UNC hiring Coach K after Dean Smith retired rather than a Dean SMith protege.
