A&M is far from the only school with rich donors and no one claimed we were the only ones with money. We just have a lot of them and in the new world of NIL money does make a difference. Many other SEC schools have rich donors as well and no doubt they will step up. Some schools are going to lose the arms race though.

Did you see the speed that Oklahoma lost their elite players once Riley left? Hint: They weren't disgruntled NIL recipients.

Don't flatter yourself with this money crapola. Kids are going to play for these coaches that get them where they want to go. And in case you haven't noticed, to this point, that hasn't been at College Station.

Interesting observation. After this season one would think A&M recruiting would be down around 20ish.

But it's not.

Surely you've got dozens of links to Aggies saying they're the "only" school with big donors? What an odd thread.

Just for the record, I don't think A&M is the only school with rich donors. Maybe some other Aggies think that, but I doubt it.

I do think A&M has the richest donors in the SEC. I could be wrong about that. I wonder if uta has richer donors? Maybe.

Didn't have a thing to do with the point I just made. Jimbo might be all that, eventually, but frankly, he was all that already at FSU and then some. NIL isn't going to decide the pecking order in the SEC.

How about some facts. Texas A&M is the wealthiest public university with an endowment of $10.52 Billion.

That’s an incredibly naive statement. Of course NIL will determine SEC pecking order. Look at the destruction to college programs early NFL departure has brought to college football. So 5* players will be flocking to the highest bidder. Everything will be determined by having an ultra talented 5 * playing as a sophomore instead of a coached senior.

Texas has a larger endowment than A&M actually but they also have to share it with a much larger system. The dollars per student is about the same between the A&M and Texas systems.

None of that has jack to do with football though. Not a penny of that goes to athletics by law.

Money won't buy winning directly but it certainly helps. If you recruit at an elite level you typically win at an elite level, just look at the recruiting rankings and final results for the last 20 years and the lists are basically the same barring a few exceptions.

That said you are correct, you need coaching. One of Jimbo's best selling points right now is he had 2 Five Stars in the 2019 Class that are both likely to be 1st Round Draft picks in a few months (Leal and Green). Not every high level prospect has hit of course but Jimbo has a good story to tell about players making it to the league.

Aggies are not as wealthy as they think. It’s petroleum back money. If oil/gas prices are high, the majority of their big donors (which is mostly petroleum base) increase. In years oil/gas prices decrease, their donation are almost non existence. The athletic dept still haven’t paid back loans they have borrowed from the academic dept. And the Kyle field upgrade still owes 100 of millions over the next 25 years or so.

So pathetic.

Sure A&M has a ton of petro money because we have the #1 Petro Engineering school in the world, are next to the Gulf, and have a ton of folks in that industry. A&M also has thousands of other donors that are wealthy and give back that have never been within 50 yards of an oil well.

As for the loan that was literally back in the Fran era and paid back well before A&M even joined the SEC, it was actually a pretty small loan. A&M's AD is pumping out about $50 million in profit right now as the redo of Kyle made it into a giant cash machine to go with the SEC money. You really need some new material and stop living in the Mack Brown era.

Then explain why these elite recruits are de-committing and players ate transferring at the speed of light when these big-name coaches start moving?

I know why Jamison Williams and Henry T left their respective schools and came to Tuscaloosa. Saturday is the answer, in case you still just don't get it.

I just added up the endowments of all the other schools in the system...they're not even $3 billion combined. Your math seems off.

Who cares about the whole system endowment? Is UTEP and UTSA paying for the tu football program in any way?

Uhhh , this has been since Sumlin been there. Why don’t you google “finance Kyle Field”? Plus you have more insurance agents than petroleum engineers. Don’t think you get huge donor amounts from that base. Or from your Blinn and Wharton Jr College donors. Be careful or I’ll put Randolph Duke on you! Hahahaha
