Why do the higher ups at Auburn think Gus is such a great coach?

Look at the talent he is wasting. Let’s be real, the year they won it was because of Cam Newton and a bunch of lucky shite.

I’m not trolling I’m legitimately in awe at why they like him so much.

2 SEC Championship Game appearances in 6 years while another team in his division is going thru their greatest period in their history.

He won a SEC Championship in 2013. When was the second one?

Y'all won it in 2013 (6 years ago). What other year did you win it?

2014 BAMA
2015 BAMA
2016 BAMA
2017 UGA
2018 BAMA

Gotcha. Wasn't trolling. I was genuinely curious. I kept thinking I wasn't thinking of one or had forgotten one.

Fwiw, I don't think he is awful or anything. I'm not sure he will get you over the top....but who knows.

Who in the league has done more besides Saban?

I don't think they believe he is some great coach, which he isn't. Occasionally beating Bama is enough for them, as the Auburn program's entire world revolves around Bama (Charles Barkley has admitted as much).

Gus will get canned in the next year or 2 after losing 4 games annually.

Like someone said earlier, If AU could find the right coach we could compete yearly with Bama.

Corrected, meant to say SECW Championships. Here is another question. Besides Saban, what active HCs in CF have a SECC ?

Who in the league has been in the league longer? most teams who expect top results fired their coaches since Gus has been in the league.

Georgia
Florida
LSU
Tennessee
South Carolina (Counting Spurrier because he would have been)
Texas A&M
Arkansas

All fired their coaches.
Teams that have changed coaches?

MState
Ole Miss
Missouri
Vanderbilt

The only teams that have not changed coaches besides Alabama is Kentucky.

No problem. At my age I also knew I could be overlooking one. And...winning the West is an excellent accomplishment. it has easily been the toughest division in football year in and year out.

Kirby Smart

But again, nobody out side of Mark Stoops has been in the league as long as Gus. (Outside of Saban, that is)

Because GusBus has his hand in the pockets of the auburn higher ups and is fiddling with their lose change .
He is in a place where he could not care less as to where the tigers wind up . Win 12-0, ok. Win 7-5, ok.
What they going to do give him a raise? Run him off? It doesn’t affect his bottom line.

Longevity is there for a reason. If Mullens(at MSU), Les and Sumlin had stay 10 more years, how many SECC would they have had even if Saban was gone ?

Legitimate point. Football today gets a little trigger happy firing coaches, imo. I just find it strange that Gus, outside of Saban, is the longest tenured coach, and he actually has not been at Auburn that terribly long.
