No, it's only valued by people who find it easier to appear to be something than to actually work to become something.

The Ole Miss adminstration banned the stars and bars and the southern cross from the stadium. They also got rid of Col. Reb.

God, I hate Ole Miss.

congrats on the big win heartbreak! looking forward to next November.

But really, KCLSU fan, Is it necessary for you to use Ole Miss as your whipping boy to feel better about your personal shortcomings? Racism exists in America, No Way!

What is LSU's excuse? At least the Confederate flag is somewhat related to our nickname. Why would anyone deem it necessary to have an LSU Battle Jack? Why is Ole Miss racist, and LSU just proud of being Southern?

Just look at the caliber of people who fly this flag. Are you really naive enough to believe that the typical moron displaying this flag isn't making a racial statement?

That's casting a pretty big net there. You'd be surprised at the number (and jobs/positions) of people who are part of Confederate heritage groups like Sons of Confederate Veterans and who fly the flag in some way shape or form.

The Fightin'Tigers were Confederate soldiers.

Not at games though, right? And that's the subject at hand. And certainly not at schools. The symbol has been ostracized to the point of obsurdity. Whose to say that some don't fly the American flag for racial reasons?

REally? B/c some ignorant individuals do something or misunderstand/represent something means that the truth of the matter is any differnt? What if someone perverted the meaning of the British flag? Should we ban it from events then? Does that change what it really stands for or represents in reality?

Are you really arrogant and presumptive enough to assume that you can make such a statement?

Look, what I said meant more specifically to this discussion than an ignorant philosophical blanket statement.

A. I'm not in the picture.
B. I don't wave the stars and bars.

I'm just asking a question but obviously I've struck a raw nerve.

EDT: and I am vehemently against flag bans.

You've heard of the Confederate Greys no? Our entire student body fought and died at Gettysburg. What the hell is wrong with honoring them? Of course it pisses me off when I see Rednecks with rebel flags. It pisses me off more when hypocrites decide that it is ok to trash my Alma Mater whenever they feel like it.

I did say:

I know plenty of people who are proud of their southern heritage and southern values. They'll slap you if you don't say yes ma'am, call you a pussy if you order a vodka tonic, and expect you to be a gentlemen. None of them wave the confederate flag.

I'm sure there are some decent people out their who wave it for acceptable reasons, but the overwhelming majority aren't.

Anywhere imo. But I'd also like to see gambling and drugs (to an extent) legalized. More freedoms imo.

I'd prefer to use Bama but I had enough fun at their expense last night.

And my personal shortcomings (and I have them) have nothing to do with it. I'm just wondering.

Why must we continue bringing this debate up when we should be discussing Mississippi State and those damn awful cowbells?

Correct. You have slandered my Alma Mater. Ole Miss has made great strides forward in the past ten years, and when people say bullshite like this, it affects other people's perception of the school. I'm probably going to be a bit upset about your blind hypocrisy. I mean for the love of christian god, I let my white guilt vote for the black man in this past election.
