It happens when you're permanently relegated to little brother status.
Look at the last two weeks - they won the IB & the conference & are going to the BCSNGC - and all anyone talked about was Mack Brown and Saban.
Imagine going through life with no one giving a shite about you. Even when you're at your best, they're more interested in your big brother. They're the Neal Bush of college football.
.................................................
Cruel, but oh so true. When polls show that many folks don't even know what state Auburn's in, they are just crushed.

I think you vastly overstate the value of being in Alabama.

we're still counting on that annexation to georgia.
Let's be honest. The little brother thing is only somethign that's still around because you guys need your egos stroked more than a 14 year old's cock.

Why, I'm not. We're a super small city right very close to a boarder.
I also don't put a lot of stock in the average american's geographical accumen.

rabern- this thread was starting in response to the heartfelt tear inducing thread of one of your own wondering why oh why we don't like your coach.
and re your latest comment: while i'm not a fan of gus and never have been and still consider the time he and nutt were both on staff and the division it caused as probably the worst in my memory of being a fan, nutt's failures are nutt's failures.

I've never had that problem. Moreover, seeing as it is highly unlikely you've traveled outside of the Alabama/NW FL corridor, I doubt you've ran into many who didn't know where it was either.

We're not talking about the size of your "city", nor its proximity to the boarder. Man, very large numbers of Americans don't even know what STATE you're in. This puts you in the La Salle, Canisius, Duquesne, etc. category...just saying..

I can live with that too.
We're not named after the state, I don't see a problem with it. People, as a rule, are typically pretty dumb.
What's your point? That we should be ashamed that some guy in Virginia doesn't know what state auburn is in. If that's our biggest PR problem then kudos to us.

Here we had an entertaining thread, where we could watch someone else poke fun at our rivals. Now you're putting Bama in the mix.

I would vote to have Georgia annex Lee county...
Georgia >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Alabama, not even close...
In my job, I have travelled all over the US, the reaction you get when you tell someone you are from Georgia vs. if you tell them you are from Alabama is amazing...
By the way, most folks think UA is in Birmingham...

I could go for having the lotto and 40oz beers.
Just think of all the QBs we could buy with lotto money.

From your last sentence, I can tell that your job is very important.

I've lived all over. The most annoying part about being from Alabama is the way everyone repeats it back to you the way Forrest Gump says it.

a large percentage of americans dont even know which state Notre Dame is in either. its typical with schools not named after a state or major city.
