When did central Florida join the SEC?

Culturally, it would’ve made plenty of sense. But as we all know that’s not the expansion driver.

Why are y’all obsessed with taking teams who lose to us at home

Not sure they can really add much to the conference but they would have been a much better pick than Missouri IMO.

Texas was the first thing (the money the program has). I imagine they bought themselves into the SEC. Oklahoma, the tradition basically. OU vs AL will be a hot ticket in the stands and television.

The year after aggy and mizzou joined payouts to every school increased from around 21mil to 30 mil. WVU doesn't add nearly that much money or they wouldn't have gone to the big 12 and us to the SEC when both schools were courting new conferences.

Why?

They wouldn’t be any stronger in any relevant sport and they are a mediocre institution in a complete shithole of a state.

Smart people made these decisions and they are in the Big 12 for a reason

Because they’re trashier than a central Florida commuter school.

I was really just thinking geographically. Seems like Mizzou would be a much better fit in the BIG 10. But I know we're well past the time when geographic fits mattered.

Predictions:

OU chokes on the field
OU fans gets milf stomped in the stands

Lack of value due to it being a less populated state
I'd take them over any other expansion option but this is about tv dollars

Well, they seemingly mattered more at the time we actually moved

I like WVU. Probably my second favorite team behind Arkansas. Third favorite is South Carolina believe it or not. I don't really keep up with them or anything I just watch their games and root for them. Except when they're playing Arkansas obviously.

And like the guy said a few posts a go lets trade Mizzou for them. Sankey would be stupid not to.

Brand doesn’t move the needle. But they are a cultural fit, what with the trash and double wides and all. Tough spot for them.

Have you been to Morgantown for a game?

In the old days the local spring water could be had by all and if you did not go blind you at least went crazy.

Ever heard of Jesco? He looked like a choir bot next to some of those fans.

WVU is 70 miles from Pittsburgh. There is nothing "southern" about them. The closest school to them in the conference is UK and they're over 300 miles away.

Is the location of the university really relevant? Does FSU's location in Tallahassee magically turn those South Florida guidos into preppy Southern bros?

I agree that WV as a state, and WVU as a university, does not completely befit the SEC. But the state certainly more in common with Kentucky and Tennessee than any other states in the country (besides Virginia).

WVU borders Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Kentucky.

Regardless of Morgantown's location, WV has far more culturally in common with VA and KY than those other states.
