Why did Jimbo leave the OC job at LSU to take the OC job at FSU?

Does anyone know? Jimbo worked for 4 years at OC under Saban and 2 years at OC under Miles, correct? After two year under Les, he left to serve as OC for Bowden at FSU, correct?

Does anyone remember why he left? I know Miles came up as an OL coach and an OC. Was there tension between Jimbo and Les?

He was coach in waiting at FSU. That’s why.

Bowden was clearly close to retirement, and FSU was willing to make him HCIW.

Ah, yes. That makes sense. I forgot that he got the coach-in-waiting tag. He might be the only person in history for whom the "head coach in waiting" plan worked.

HCIW title. He has said multiple times he loved his time in Baton Rouge and even wanted to come back but the president and governor said we too poor

He was named HCIW at FSU. He also, that same off-season, was nearly named head coach at UAB.

Anyone who thinks FSU is a better job doesn't really know much about it.

Surely because he saw that Bowden's days were numbered and he would be able to move in the HC position. Smart move on his part.

Jimbo clearly thought it was and it worked out for him didn’t it? What head coaching jobs have you held BusinessKnight? That’s what I thought, none! YOU don’t really know much about it.

Yeah, I can't remember why it fell apart but I do remember that being very close to happening. I want to say the BOR at Alabama wouldn't approve the contract.

Not sure but I wasn't a big Jimbo fan. Wasn't disappointed when he left and wasn't disappointed when he didn't come back.

Let's see,
Jimbo left the SEC to a non SEC school - so not relevant to SEC Rant
Les no longer the head coach at LSU and at Kansas - so not relevant to the SEC Rant

Try again.

BTW, just using your logic for RA'ing the other topic.

Do you not varsity blues and remember how FSU was back in the day? That's a solid gig for any coach.

what do you mean "worked?"

As in he succeeded? Or was given the tag and then actually became the coach?
