Now this did happen. I remember they put a little qb in, I think his name was Washington, and tried to run the option to no avail against UNLV. The offense was so bad I left the game early and on my way out two men leaving in front of me were talking and said if they’re going to run the option then why not use Matt Jones. They were right.
He did the same with McCluster at ole miss, taking too long to figure things out.
He definitely had his faults.

That was in 2001 when Arkansas started 0-3 in SEC play. Nutt panicked and finally let Jones play.
His first TD was a 65 yard down the sideline against Weber State.

Mizzou was the #1 ranked team right before playing Arkansas but yes, the only reason won was because Arkansas “threw the game”.
