There were two kids from Texas who made a non-binding oral statement yesterday about where they are going to college.
One kid said Texas, the other said LSU.
In related news, today I decided that on December 21st, I plan on eating some chicken fried steak. But don't hold me to that.

I think this shitty thread fits in quite well on the rant this week.
THIS I agree with. At least your shitty thread wasn't made by someone's 3rd altar and had some semblance of being on topic as two kids yesterday did indeed move the recruiting nerd needle.

So many response threads to fact threads.
So many try-hards.

I believe A&M can stay relevant by starting threads about flagship universities.

We are a flagship university . . . . your own leadership calls us that.
Must be another Texas State t-shirt fan babbling here.

Always good for a laugh when aggy feelings get hurt about flagship universities. Texas A&M University in College Station is the flagship of the Texas A&M University System.
The University of Texas is the flagship university of the State of Texas.
So, yeah, if it makes you feel better to be a "flagship", sure.

Because they don't want to offer the kind of money that divides a locker room. Plus, I'm thrilled they lost that recruiting battle. Guarantees the kid will be a bust with no coaching and no NFL future.
He would have been a first round draft pick at LSU.

This place is bunch of illiterates.
I get that high school dropout t-shirt fans from Oklahoma and Texas don't have much familiarity with college education or higher ed in general.
To the lawnmowers and car washers trying to get in digs on this thread, get a library card (as I know you can't afford books) and go educate yourself.
You can even use the free internet there. Just google search A&M flagship university and you will be astounded at all the things you will discover.

So you’re telling me the top player in the state of Texas chose Texas over LSU, and you thought you’d come here to troll about your biggest rival gaining a 5-star? On the same day that one of the top players in Texas chose LSU over Texas A&M?
Over the past 10 years, the Longhorns have only signed the No. 1 overall prospect in Texas one time. That was BJ Foster.

Pete Kwiatkowski TEXAS Defensive Coordinator/Outside Linebackers:
"Kwiatkowski has proven to be an outstanding developer of talent. During his time as defensive coordinator and co-defensive coordinator at Washington, a total of 17 members of the Husky defense have been drafted by NFL teams, including 10 in the first two rounds, with several more signing as free agents. After his first season in Seattle, Kwiatkowksi saw four members of his defense selected in the first 44 picks of the 2015 NFL Draft: first-rounders DT Danny Shelton, CB Marcus Peters and LB Shaq Thompson, and second-rounder LB Hau'oli Kikaha. The following year, OLB Travis Feeney was selected by the Steelers.
In 2017, another three defensive players were taken in the first two rounds in CB Kevin King, S Budda Baker and CB Sidney Jones. In 2018, DT Vita Vea was a first-round pick, while LBs Azeem Victor and Keishawn Bierra were also drafted. In 2019, five more Husky defenders were selected including second-rounders CB Byron Murphy and S Taylor Rapp, along with DL Greg Gaines, LB Ben Burr-Kirven and CB Jordan Miller."

Sure thing. Outside of the RB last year, Texas hasn't had a first round draft pick in years. It's a place to dead-end your career and stall your development.
Garbage defense, with mediocre talent at best. Can't expect more when the 'defensive' coach comes from the we can't play defense leauge out West. The one that doesn't exist anymore ;)

247 shows them as signing 2 of #1 players.
This gives you perspective. I remember when Malik Jefferson switched to Texas due to all the excitement over the Charlie Strong hire. That guy never panned out for whatever reason.
2023 - David Hicks . . .A&M
2022 - Cade Klubnick . . .Clemson
2021 - Quinn Ewers . . .OSU
2020 - Zach Evans . . .TCU
2019 - Kenyon Green . . .A&M
2018 - Caden Sterns . . .Texas (BJ Foster #2)
2017 - Marvin Wilson . . .Florida State
2016 - Greg Little . . . Ole Miss
2015 - Malik Jefferson . . .Texas
2014 - Myles Garrett . . .A&M

Both those players were busts. Something in the water in Austin. Maybe hobo piss?

I thought the book on Texas was that we had all the talent in the world and still couldn't win.
Now it's that we don't have the talent. Which I think is closer to the truth, given the lack of NFL draft success.
And that's precisely why TAMU fans were extremely upset when they woke up 2 years ago to the news of Texas joining the SEC. That SEC patch on the Texas uniform means there's no reason an instate recruit would choose the Aggies over Texas.

Texas has offensive talent that doesn't really get drafted either. No defensive player really wants to destroy their future and sign on to that mess. Simmons just "wanted to take care of his family". He will join a real defense down the road after he realizes just what he signed up for.
