I think it's a solid hire.
They may not be able to be insanely productive with the spread but I'm not sure what offense they could be highly productive with. AU hasn't been that strong on offense the past 3 years.

possibly a great hire, but it could blow up on ya"ll also. Don't forget all the drama he was involved at Arkansas. It was probably worth it, considering Chizik himself is a huge gamble so what the hell.

really though aubarn could only go up from here. they pretty much hit rock bottom hiring chizik. the only way they could have made this worse was to go get mallveto for d.

No one talks about how good Tulsa was in 2007. They scored a grand total of 4 more TDs in 2008 with Malzahn than in 2007 without him. The output was largely unchanged with 7346 yards in 2008 and 7615 in 2007.
The major difference is the distribution of the yards on the ground and through the air.
2007 - 5194 pass, 2421 rushing
2008 - 4033 pass, 3313 rushing
I'd say the even distribution of the yards is the biggest positive, but the results are just about the same.
I guess what it shows me is that the success of Rice 3 years ago, Tulsa 2007, and Tulsa 2008 all have one thing in common...Todd Graham.
This guy is getting overlooked IMO.
I bet they don't miss a beat without Malzahn, and Auburn...I guess they couldn't do any worse.

Apparently I overlooked the fact that Malzahn was at Tulsa in 2007 also.
My bad...he wasn't at Rice though.

That amazing offense put up a whopping 23 in a loss to mighty Arkansas this year.
Of course, you guys put up 22 so I guess it is an improvement after all.
Honestly, it doesn't matter who you hire at this point. It's over.

I love going back and reading the old shite.

I thought he was a better hire than Chizik. He's the biggest reason for that team's turnaround IMO

It looks as if most people agreed it was a good hire. Even most of the Bama fans.
ETA: Which I assume was the reason for the bump in light of the other thread.

Why can't auburn fans admit no one cares about Gus Malzahn?

Probably because this is completely assinine and untrue.
