And that's what im saying. You think everyone else could do what they did without the threat of Johnny.

Not at all. We struck gold with Manziel. I'm saying that Arkansas could earn bowl eligibility with a more strategic approach than I believe they will use.

Like I said on the other page:
Bielema isn't planning on running a carbon copy of the Wisconsin offense. He has said this numerous times already. He knows we don't have the personnel to do it yet.

The problem is the teams he's competing against for that type of talent, and the numbers involved. He's going to have to beat out some pretty big programs to field a legit power run offense.
The reason most teams run the spread is because you can win with lesser talent.
I'm not saying he can't do it, but it's going to be hard to recruit for that offense at Arkansas.

It's common knowledge that the only way Arkansas achieved success was with a all out air attack that emphasised the talent they are able to get. In other words...Perino best year was the ceiling for the program in this SEC West dominate era.

Petrino could turn a turd into a diamond
Yet not a soul on this board would've admitted it while he was coaching for us. Now that he is gone, everyone talks about what a great coach he was and heaps the praise on him
WHHAAT??
Petrino scared the frick sauce outta me.
Best offensive mind in the game today no doubt. He can make a nasty offense out of anything.
If he ever got a Chavis-like defensive coordinator, watch the frick out. Everyone always respected his coaching, just not him.

quote:Yes. He had 2 hours to throw every time he dropped back. His O-line made him this year.
You think Manziel would have done what he did in a more traditional offense?

Ah, yes, Petrino, pure shite while he was here, greatest ever now that he is gone...

We're fricked. Going to suck forever. Don't worry about Arkansas ever again...might as well not even game plan for us.

you seem to know quite a bit more about college football than the nfl. quite a bit more.

Bielema is going to stubbornly try and force square pegs through round holes.
How is trying to establish a balanced offense and boost our running game "forcing square pegs into round holes"? We have a very good 4* RB who showed a shite ton of promise last year as our #4 RB. And he has now gotten from 205 lbs to 220 and not lost speed. We have a 5* RB coming in who will probably be up to 215 or so around the time the season begins. We have an absolute monster of a fullback who consistently breaks facemasks. We have a lot of promising young guys on our o-line and one of the best o-line coaches in the country. It's not like we're trying to install a power running game with Washington State's offensive personnel here. Arkansas had decent enough framework for a good running game when Bielema got here. He is already doing a hell of a job improving on it, but it is not like he came here with nothing to work with. Do some research and look at who we've got.

I agree with you here but given what he did in a little over a month by getting 3 HIGHLY recruited and huge offensive linemen(Kirkland, Koehler, Skipper), and one of the best running backs in the country(Collins), I would say he is off to a fantastic start. And NONE of those guys were considering Arkansas before he showed up. We'll know more a year from now. Hopefully he can continue the trend.
