Not all are. My parents wouldn't let me play football because they were afraid I would get hurt so I had to figure a way to go to all the games. I joined the band and don't regret it. Went to all the games free, had scholarship offers, and dated majorettes.

played the sax for three years but quit after 9th grade because I thought band was too nerdy and I didn't want that label in high school. If I had continued I easily would've gotten a full ride somewhere.

They may be geeks but you were a beta who cared too much about what others think.

Saw some LSU band members mow down an Auburn football player once. Fun times...

Ended up going to UofSC

clearly not a nerd.

Wish I was a nerd, would have ended up a lot more successful.

I completely regret not learning to play an instrument when younger. Live music is one of my biggest hobbies, but I have zero ability to learn the guitar at this point. Scholarship in college would have been nice, too.

We had two dudes in the band that fit that category. Their mommas wouldn't let them play FooosBall. LOL

freshmen year i was in the dorm with all the band kids, they were nerdy but a damn fun group. our RM was in band also, so all away games the dorm was incredibly quiet and the few of us not in bad could go wild and not bother anyone. Pretty awesome setup.

I picked up guitar in my mid 20s. One of the best things I've ever done. I appreciate music more now, every new song I hear I'm googling chords for it.

Because this is what we call others in an effort to convince ourselves we aren’t all geeks, but of course we are. It’s just a choice of being the geek doing the thing he loves or the miserable geek hating.
