Yes willie ... I do hate the fact that we have to hear your fantasies about visiting Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson locker rooms after their wins. It is very sick.

They are scared to death about NIL. They responded to Saban's begging for money, but they all know it cannot be sustained. Saban knows it and it will frustrate him into retirement. They are not really whining; it is the sound of fear.

Auburn has the money but most people are taking a wait and see with Harsin. The fans and alum have not committed to him and are waiting to see if he is worthy of their cash. In Bama's case this is the best it will get, who knows what will happen when Saban leaves. How much money will the next coach get even if he begs. I still think the former PTB are waiting to see if they can get back their power. The power they got by doing the under the table work of former coaches (ie Logan Young). I think the realist know Bama will not be able to keep up long term.
The new era of coaching over recruiting will come into play in the future due to the rich and NIL.

Why don't you throw Macon and Cordele on there, too.
How about Birmingham, Mobile, Bessemer, Anniston, Pritchard? Out of the 50 worst places to live in the US, Alabama has 5 (10%) of them.

Anniston is not one of the 50 worst places to live in America Shite I could name 15 in my county in Metro Atlanta alone much higher than that on the list.
Stop being an idiot. Bragging about Columbus and Warner Robins is asinine

Columbus is home to the 5th largest military base in the US. Warner Robins has Robins AFB, which is the home of the Air Force Materiel Command's Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, which is the worldwide manager for a wide range of aircraft, engines, missiles, software and avionics and accessories components.
You anti-military too?

Columbus is a shithole and getting worse by the week.

I am not anti-military, since I am a retired military Officer. I have been to both those bases, and they are really shitholes, and they cause that to be true about the towns they are located in. The only decent military base in GA is Hunter AAF and maybe St Marys( because it is close to Jacksonville).

I married a girl from Rome and have been to Floyd County GA more times than I can count, not to mention Lagrange, Eatonton (Lake Oconee), Helen, Savannah, and Atlanta a hundred times and many other places. Go to Summerville and Cedartown GA and tell me it’s not redneck. Georgia is basically Alabama with a bigger and shittier large city. And let’s not forget that liberal, 13%er-led city gave us the worst president in history, so…
Fvk Georgia.
Fvk Georgia.

quote:Those people are sabotaging Auburn football for years down the road by holding tight to their wallets. Auburn will have turned in 3 consecutive yrs of classes ranked around 20th and won't help Harsin or any coach coming after him. It's asinine and a backwards way of thinking that your alum$$$ & fanbase choose to hamstring the #1 money making sport at AU because they're apprehensive about the coaching staff. LOAD up the talent for the program through NIL now and see what the coaching staff can do with it.
Auburn has the money but most people are taking a wait and see with Harsin. The fans and alum have not committed to him and are waiting to see if he is worthy of their cash.
quote:I'll admit it's pretty damn good.
In Bama's case this is the best it will get
quote:No one knows so it's an exercise in futility to project with any certainty what the future holds.
who knows what will happen when Saban leaves
quote:Name 2 of those old PTB that stepped back for +15 yrs but want to get back into the day to day operations of Bama football. I only want to see 2 names.
I still think the former PTB are waiting to see if they can get back their power. The power they got by doing the under the table work of former coaches (ie Logan Young).
quote:I agree that after Coach Saban retires it's unlikely anyone will retain the consistency that Bama has had under is tenure because no one in the history of college football has ever come close to what he's accomplished. The record books are still being re-written. Long term - no one knows what level Bama will be able to maintain.
I think the realist know Bama will not be able to keep up long term.
quote:I disagree. All the money in the world can entice top talent and normally teams operate with an annual cap on the # of signees. So it still takes a damn good coaching staff to evaluate and develop that talent to a consistently elite level of competition on the field. The importance of solid coaching, talent evaluation & player development becomes even more pronounced when NIL $$ is flowing freely among the wealthy programs.
The new era of coaching over recruiting will come into play in the future due to the rich and NIL.

Bryant Jr is the biggest PTB who had his hands tied. Drummond was Saban's biggest protector before he died. His family is not that involved anymore. There are a few middle of the road families that will be trying to negotiate their position when Saban leaves.

No, unless you are claiming Savannah is a suburb of SC or St. Simmon a suburb of FL.

If you're a fan of college football and possess even half a brain, you'll be scared about NIL too. It's obvious the sport can not survive in it's current form under the existing circumstances. Within a decade at least half of the schools (even power 5 schools) will drop the sport. Your major conferences will consist of 6 teams, not 12 to 16 teams.

No joke, scan the REC high tier. I have spoken to someone in the know and they have dropped a few names. Some are new money, but most are old UA money. Saban relegated them to the REC early, so they are just waiting.
