I come from a little bitty old town, but one with a rich athletic tradition despite it's size (around 1300).
Nobody has made it to 'superstar' status, but a couple of notable ones include most recently, Tyrell Johnson (Arkansas State/Minnesota Vikings), William Miller (OBU/CFL), William was All American at Ouachita Baptist University, and rookie of the year in the Canadian Football League. George Walker was an all-SWC quarterback back in the day. Jim Morgan played for a bit with the Chicago Bears.
A couple others have made it to NFL camps (Shermar Bracey, Billy Don Miller)

I grew up in Pittsburgh, pretty big town, so we have some good ones that have come out of here.
Football: John Unitas (grew up on the same street as my dad), Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Tony Dorsett, Derell Revis, George Blanda (was a friend of my grandmother), and a bunch of others. Sean Lee that currently plays for the cowboys went to my high school. His brother Andy Lee was or is a punter for San Francisco not sure if he's still playing.
Baseball: Stan Musial was probably the most famous, I think Ralph Kiner was from Pittsburgh also. Sean Casey went to my High School, Kevin Slowey, who pitches with the Twins also went to my HS. Mark Cuban grew up just a few miles from me and Chuck Greenberg who own the Rangers is from my township.
Random one for lent: Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington DC, grew up on my dad's street too.

Leroy Cook was better at football than Porter at BKball and would've been famous if Baumhower hadn't inured Cook's knee celebrating an Iron Bowl win..
