re: Do you think tOSU hates the initials SEC ??

I think you people need to check your egos.
First off, Ohio State beats SEC teams on a regular basis in all sports. Secondly, no one in Columbus really cares all that much about basketball. Thirdly, we don't pay that much attention to SEC football. I try and catch one or two games a year.
Despite what you all tell yourselves, outside of the Southeast no one pays that much attention to the SEC. Just like you all don't pay much attention the the Big Ten.

I was told that former Ohio State assistant coach Urban Meyer bought a house in Columbus.
Anyone know if this is true?

No one forced the SEC to play a conference title game. Why should you punish a Big Ten team because the SEC decided to make more money?
That game is a mere formality anyway. How many upsets have there been? LSU over UT in 2001. I can't think of anymore.

"The result of one game played for no reason other than to generate revenue should not matter.
" ~H-Town
All games are played to generaate money. And they all count. Ohio State lost to Wisconsin. That game was played soley to generate money. By your "logoc" we could just throw it out because it does not matter. So Ohio State gets in the natioanl title game.
No one forced the SEC, or ACC or Big 12 to play a conference title game. Some years it will help a team. Some years it will hurt a team. But it does matter. Otherwise it would be ca;;ed a scrimmage.

re: Why do so many non-BCS fans talk about BCS money?

There are 18 teams in the MWC and WAC combined. There are 23 teams in the Big Ten and ACC combined. That might have something to do with Iowa-GT making more in payouts than TCU-Boise.
Also, people forget who has spent the last 80-100 years building successful teams. Ohio State spends more than a 100 million a year on athletics. They just finshed a billion dollar upgrade in facilities. Michigan just spent 200 million on their stadium. Alabama must have spent a ton on adding seats to their stadium.
These schools have invested vast amounts of resources that the mid-majors have not. So they deserve more money. If it weren't for the Ohio State's, LSU's, USCs etc....there would not be any interest in college football. A schools that has only been committed to fb for a decade or so should not expect to be treated like they been around for a 100 years.
Only 16 programs make a profit off of football. And all 16 kick that profit right back into non-revenue sports. So it isn't like any of the BCS schools are getting rich anyway.
The real money is in research dollars. Wisconisn spends around 40 million a year on football. They get 800 million dollars in research grants. 800 million compared to 40 million. And that is fairly typical of large state flagship universities. Football and bowl games are a drop in the bucket.
All football does is get the university noticed. This increases applications. This allows the schools to accept better quality students (like Maurice Clarett) which attracts better quality professors. This attracts more research grants. Research grants = survival. Not bowl games.

re: Will the Big East hold a spot for Notre Dame?
Posted by BuckeyeBruce on 11/29/10 at 8:22 pm
Notre Dame will never, under any circunstances, join the Big East in football. Never.
Big Ten schools pay out 22 million per team per year right now. With the addition of Nebraska and conference title game that will probably jump to 30 million. The Big East pays out 3 million.
If the Big Ten would add Notre Dame and one more big time money maker they could easily be making 40-50 million per team.
Plus, the Big East is about as dysfunctional as can be. So is the Big 12. The Big Ten, ACC and SEC are stable conferences that make tons of money. I suspect if ND ever joined a conference it would be one of those 3. And any of the 3 would welcome them.
Memphis would be a disaster. They have terrible facilities. They are no longer competitive. They have made zero attempt to improve the football program. And the Vols pretty much own that market.
I went to Villanova. They are losing about 4-5 million a year right now in football. I'm thinking what the hell, we aint gonna lose anymore by jumping. I say go for it.It may be our only chance.
If Nova says no then I suspect UCF will be invited. Possibly Appy State.

Saban was raised in West Virginia. I think WVU tried to get Saban when they hired RR. Saban turned them down. No way he would leave Alabama for WVU now.
Alabama also tried to get RR before they got Saban. RR turned them down and then took the job in Ann Arbor a year later.

From 2005 thru 2009 the WAC (minus Boise) went 29-95 agianst BCS conferences and the MWC.:moon:
That's a 24% winning percentage. :rotflmao:
And we wonder why people say we don't play anyone. :wah: :wah: :wah:

Since the BCS started the Boise St Donkeys are 8-12 against BCS opponenets. That is a 40% win percentage for the Donks.
Bowling Green State University is 10-16 against BCS opponents. That is a 38% win percentage for the mighty, mighty Falcons.
One could argue that the Donkeys deserve as much consideration as BGSU.
The difference is BGSU fans know our place. You won't hear us whining like a bunch of biotches if we don't get a BCS bowl game for just showing up.
We also have academic standards at Bowling Green. :booboo:

re: Why is it so bad for the BCS if Boise and/or TCU gets in?
Posted by BuckeyeBruce on 11/26/10 at 3:33 pm
The BCS conferences want to keep the money to themselves. National Title Game pays out around 14 million per team.
No sane person would willingly give away 28 million dollars.
