Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps and Emmanuel Moody all averaged between 7 and 8 yards per carry and combined for 1,700 yards rushing. That isn't counting the 660 yards and 9+ YPC average Harvin had. Combined those four averaged 8.1 YPC, rushing for nearly 2,400 yards and 23 TDs combined.

Meanwhile Tebow averaged 3.8 yards per carry and scored 12 TDs, most of which were goal line dive plays.

Their 2008 defense was 4th in PPG allowed.

You ever notice how backs suddenly averaged a lot more ypc with Tim? Happened in the NFL too-- its because the linebackers had to key in on him-- its the only thing that let a guy like Demps do as well as he did-- Jeff was only slightly bigger and slightly faster than Trindon Holliday but was the starting RB on a national title winning SEC team-- because Tim took all of the big shots.

Arguing that Young was a better college QB than CAM isn't merely objective wrong....it's a credibility killer. I Anyone who actually thinks VY was better than Cam should just quietly exit the thread and go to the music board and post about the new Carly Rae Jepsen album or something. Something. Just not rating college QBs.

Yeah VY had a top 5 defense backing him up (plus Jamaal Charles). Cam had Dyer and a defense not even in the top 50.

Eh. Disagree. People heavily underrate Tebow these days because of overexposure and NFL failure.

I tend to agree. He was a really really really good college QB.

Of the ones I've witnessed, hands down Cam Newton. I was at that Auburn game and it was rough. Tebow comes to mind and Jamarcus had the best arm I've ever seen.

The NFL thing is moot though when comparing him to Wuerffel because Danny's pro stint was even worse.

I'll give Vick this- I've never seen a more impressive athletic performance by a college player than what he did against FSU in the 99 Sugar Bowl-- that was a line with like 3 Top 10 DLs- they were in the backfield at the snap essentially every play and he almost beat FSU single handedly; he blew out like 2 guys knee's with pure speed it was insane.

Rainey and Demps were both glorified track stars who, granted, were our big play threats along with Harvin. But Tebow, while not as explosive as guys like Cam and Manziel, was absolutely money in the clutch -- there was no one better at getting just enough yards to move the chains and continuously break the defense's will. Guys like Rainey and Demps had holes because of Tebow. Not the other way around.

Strongest. Not best. I've never seen a QB match JR in the inexplicable misfire category. Guy would overthrow a quick hitter to the TE and it would get intercepted by the free safety.

People have mostly forgotten about that, though. Tebow's NFL career is still pretty fresh on people's minds.

Yeah that's what I meant. He had very little touch. Just cannons.

Joe Namath. Would have been the best of all time if Coach Bryant had let him pass.

He was incredible. I watched that game with my buddy from HS, who was a VT student at the time. I was being nice and supportive on the outside while rabidly rooting on FSU on the inside. I just didn't like VT, and I didn't want my friend to have a football NC in his argumentative arsenal. And yet, it was hard not to be floored by what Vick was doing.

Manziel was plenty accurate and his wheels were plenty adequate. He wasn't a homerun hitter like Vick, but he could move dem sticks.

I'm not saying he couldn't. My point is he didn't have the size, the polish, or the physical tools that a lot of the other guys mentioned here had. He just found ways to make shite happen that nobody else could ever make happen.

If the Devil is real, I'm 99% sure he is in the possession of the soul of one Johnny Football.

But Got dang I loved every minute he was on the field for the Ags.

I think blind hatred, a pos father and a lone youth mistake has truly shaped way too many opinions of Cameron Jerrell Newton.
He is the greatest college football player I have had the honor to see in person multiple times and one of the 10 best of all time. period.

Also seen in person that were very impressive and rank very high ( in my personal opinion obviously since it was games I attended and I THINK that's what op means)
Michael Vick, Andrew Luck, Danny Wuerful, Ryan Leaf and the 2nd best college QB I've seen in person besides Cam... Timmy Chang
Amazing how college hype, success, college records broked', etcetcetc matters nothing and translates very very little in terms of Pro performance.

Tebow was arguably the best college QB of all time and he played 4 seasons, 3 as a starter.

That has to be taken into account.

Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana all are better than any you listed. And yes I saw them
