Ole Miss and A&M are the West teams I'd most like the Gators to face if we make it to Atlanta, don't really see how either would break 20 on the first team defense.

can Bama stop the pass

There's still work to be done, but our secondary may have turned the corner last weekend. I like what I saw.

Bama has the second best secondary behind UF. They are playing 3 freshman who are flat out balling. They also have two former Cbs at SS and FS. People are not watching if they think this secondary is anything like the previous two years.

The real answer of course is it could be any of 4 teams, each has a strong argument.

LSU has Fournette who looks unstoppable and a strong defense. Big weakness in lack of passing game and if Fournette goes down or even just has an off day. MSU should have beaten them and they really haven't been tested otherwise so the question is if they are improving or if they are in danger of being exposed, we certainly won't know anything after this weekend playing USC.

Bama has Henry and a decent passing attack, though the offense is not overwhelming. Defense and ST are both very good and have no glaring weaknesses. Lots of talent all around.

Ole Miss has a good passing game and a meh running game. Aggressive defense. Biggest weakness is lack of depth. How will they react after the UF drubbing as well? They faded badly last season, can they put it back together?

A&M has best QB passing game and lots of playmakers at WR. Run game is meh, not terrible but they have had some trouble getting tough yards when needed in spite of having a huge RB in Carson. Defense has been very aggressive with the best pass rush and very solid DB play. Weakness is LB play and stopping the run which has been inconsistent. Special Teams may be the best in the SEC. Great return men in Kirk and Speedy. Elite punter with Kaser. Solid Kicker that booted a 55 yarder last week. The real question is is Allen can continue to improve and keep turnovers at a minimum and can the defense stop run teams enough to get the ball back to the offense.

Next weekend will tell us a lot with LSU/UF and A&M/Bama. Winners of those games are in great shape either way.

Too early to tell. Ole Miss, aTm & LSU all control their own destiny. Bama is right there too and just needs Ole Miss to lose 1 game. I still think it could go in any direction for all 4 of these teams.

Everyone just keep on prognosticating. None of it means jack right now. The West just isn't a clear picture at this point, and won't be for at least two more weeks. Injuries are going to happen. A few guys are going to step forward and play bigger roles. When the race is this tight, every development becomes magnified.

None of the top teams are dominant enough to win the division going away. You guys feel free to argue, but things are going to happen that none of us sitting behind a keyboard at home can't predict, and those events will have a huge impact on the final outcome. Think about Treadwell's injury last year and what a profound impact it ended up having on the West race.

1. Bama - Wanna be the king? Beat the king.

2a. A&M - Defense much improved, weapons everywhere on offense. But can their run defense stop LSU or Bama?

2b. LSU - People don't understand that our QB is not the problem, it's the WR's. If our guys can start catching the ball we should be very hard to beat.

4. Ole Miss - Lets see how the rebound. They have the talent to win it. Do they have the mental strength to bounce back?

State, Arky and AU are out of it.

And A&M held a team to 17 that scored 19 on LSU.

Arkansas was a bad matchup for A&M. LSU might be too if we can't get our rush defense in order.
