I don't see this happening. I don't THINK anyone will hold LSU to 3 YPC. Too much talent in the backfield. I DO, however, believe Georgia will shut Mettenberger down and he will pass for less than 125 yards.

If it comes down to special teams (and it could) then Georgia loses. We are pretty weak there and have been for quite some time.

So what you were saying is Mingo, Reid, Minter, Montgomery etc really weren't all that good. Check. I saw that. Ummmm....never occurred to you that some of those tackles, interceptions etc were made by the returning guys because the players that left got all the attention freeing them up, right?

Hey. Why don't we just wait and see. I can give you dozens of reasons why Georgia should win and you can give me dozens saying why LSU will win. Right now all we have are opinions. And we ALL have those.

Here's a good read. Before you click, ask yourself if you can name a single Georgia defender.

This guy is a prick & has hated on UGA & CMR since '09. He is as biased a writer as there is out there. If you think anything he says isn't slanted anti-UGA, I don't know what to tell ya...

Here's a coupla other articles from him...

I see. You apparently think Georgia added to it does not add to the difficulty level. And I think TCU will be better than Washington. But hey...if you don't think the schedule is tougher.....

Seriously? THAT proves the Georgia D won't be any good? We could ask ourselves if anyone can name an LSU defender. If fans from other teams can't name a defender they aren't any good?

Their backups were so much better it was vital for them never to see the field so in 2013 they could shock us with their overall talent level. Brilliant plan by Coach Miles.

I agree, it usually is. And I would expect everyone to be fairly healthy for the most part that early in the season.

i like this attitude. we were rebuilding just as much last year but still were "dominating" as you put it. it's wishful thinking by the entire SEC that lsu's defense will take a step down.

We will have rested our starter till this game as well. Maybe give him one tune up game.

Don't believe they will take a step down to mediocrity, if that is what you mean. but surely you don't believe thaT lsu WOULD HAVE SURVIVED HAD THEIR DEFENSE WERE NOT AS GOOD AS IT WAS. i MEAN...YOU GUYS did HAVE 6 PLAYERS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS OF THE nfl DRAFT. nOW, IF THEY DID NOT PLAY UP TO THEIR ABILITIES, THEN THAT WOULD BE their FAULT, RIGHT? (Sorry about the caps.. I'm too lazy to go back and redo!)

Hey. Nobody is arguing your running game won't be dominating. But if you try to throw the ball 20-25 times you will be in serious trouble with Mett.

Your defense is strong and your running game will be, too. I just don't believe your defense will be as strong as it was last season, and Mettenberger will drive you as crazy as Jefferson did.

OK so you want to play rough?

Georgia returns ONLY 4 starters from a defense that finished 12th in rushing defense in the SEC last year. Georgia had a good passing D last year (2nd in the SEC), but that accomplishment is offset by the fact that only one starter returns in the secondary.

Unless Georgia has some serious addition by subtraction happening, I don't see their defense being any better, not against the run, and not against the pass, either.

If I'm Les and the bayou bungals I'd run that rock all game. Even if it stalls early I'd stick with it because eventually the floodgates will open. Allowing mett more opportunities to frick up would be a huge mistake, just run and they'll score their points. Just my worthless opinion.

LSU returns one more starter than Georgia does, and our defense was better overall to begin with.

And this is what I said on page 1. UGA fans love to hate on Mett. Because he used to be a Bulldog, they feel entitled to do so. The truth is Mett looked very good at times last year but was overall inconsistent. If he becomes more consistent he's going to do some serious damage in the SEC. Factor in the fact that LSU adds some serious new threats in the passing game this year (WR Leslie, TE Smith), as well as an actual offensive coordinator, and my guess is that Mett and the LSU offense will be passing quite effectively this season.

The key for LSU's passing game is not Mett, it is pass protection.

That's the thing. We haven't seen this group play as a unit yet and they could either be very average or outstanding. We'll know Labor Day weekend.
