I could say the same for LSU because Kelly is the one holding back the team from making the playoffs so far.

I do not agree with this narrative from a holistic perspective though BK did make a massive mistake not retaining Corey Raymond, Baker, and our special teams coordinator and making Brian Polian director of recruiting but now it appears he’s acclimated to LSU football’s culture and approach and built quite a monster for the next years with recruiting and staff. We’ll see if it translates to massive success this fall.

Deborer will be on the hot seat after not making the playoffs this year too.

I look for AU to go 10-2 with a win over Bama at Jordan Hare

Just looking at the last 10 SEC championship games the winner of the SEC was in the top 5 of the team talent composite index for that year and 80% of the winners were # 1or # 2 in the team talent composite index. To win the SEC the last 10 years you had to be top 5 in that index while 3 teams not from the SEC won national championships while not being in the top 5. All were top 10 though except Michigan who was # 14.

History suggests the SEC winner will likely be GA, TX or Bama unless LSU moves up to #5 in that with their transfers.

Are you calling Brian Kelly a liar? He told Yahoo News in July of 2024 that $17 million was what they spent for the upcoming season.

In the 2024 cycle, LSU’s NIL collective spent only about $5.5 million total across the roster—which included payments for retention and recruiting in the high school class, with minimal transfer portal investment at that time.

The program’s total NIL budget grew to approximately $18M–$20M in early 2025.

LSU Season / Category
NIL Funds Spent / Budget

2024 NIL collective total
~$5.5 million

Funds raised late 2024 / early 2025
~$13 million

Total over 2024–2026 rosters
~$26.5 million

Alabama is the clear cut favorite in my mind.

Texas and Georgia are basically tied at 2nd on paper but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them finish mid pack, both have questions.

TX A&M might win the whole conference if they got great QB play. Not sold on Reed but like their run game
