Back when our country had a selective service draft, many times players were "called up" for duty and had to take an LOA, in that event. Many times when professional (or college) players would do this, they would many times play for a "base team". Starr allegedly played for Eglin, and at times, Eglin had a team that could perhaps beat a some professional teams, and most college teams. Since I read about this in Hunter Thompson - Outlaw Journalist, I'm just passing it on...I won't confirm or deny that
