Malz teams were cute/finesse teams.

Hard to call them finesse when he placed such an emphasis on the running game. Makes it even stranger that he ignored the OLine while he was there given that offensive philosophy.

Fun fact. I did one semester at Auburn when Tuberville was there and he gad them playing big time football with Cadillac and Brown. The student body was very enthusiastic about them while i was there and the tailgating wasn't bad at all.

Tuberville is the better overall coach but that gus offense was pretty explosive with a legit dual threat QB operating it.

Tubs had the insane ability to get a team primed to knock off a big opponent on the road. Florida, UGA, Bama, UT, LSU didn’t matter. I think the last time we won in Athens was when Tubs was still coach. He lost his share too (like all AU coaches) but his teams might just whip your arse. Plus he was the last coach who could recruit OL until Freezus.

Gus shite the bed in road games.

I won't attempt to show all the times in his career that he ran the score and stats up on weaker teams in the 4th quarter so that he would be ready to run to the stats websites on Sunday night or Monday morning and celebrate his own disingenuous arse.
Gus dominated Arkansas, hence the hate filled post

Gus was 1:04 seconds from winning the Natty. 2nd and 3 from Fla State 27. Two missed tackles of a 5 yard pass dude goes 50 yards. Rest in history.
That offense in 2013 with Marshall was a thing of beauty!
However Tubbs putting together the 2004 team and the run against Big Al going 7-3…. Tubbs!

I don't even wanna try to interpret what this says. But what I can gather is you really think auburn could beat the 2005 Texas longhorns? Lmao.

Maddening even.

The word got out that the NFL couldn't draft Auburn OL because of their simplicity and that led to a huge uphill battle recruiting OL.

2004 Auburn > 2005 Texas.

Gus had to overlap with Saban while Tubs flourished during the Shula years.

Gus is the better coach despite his flaws.

Even though they ran the ball a lot it was still about deception, it was never about big O linemen blowing out defenders. More like getting the D going the wrong way and then just getting in their way when they tried to recover. Very frustrating to watch if you were on the other side.

Agreed fully.
First game AU vs UGA was 1971 at 13. Now 65… I have family in Social Circle, Monroe. Cousins at UGA while I attended AU and Uncle was Post Master in Monroe back in the day. We still get together each year.
To hell with Bama. It is UGA and yes sir…our success is measured against Hairy Dawg. Been aggravating for damn sure.

Tubs....never seen Gus wagging fingers. You just knew he was going to implode at any point.

Gus brought higher highs more frequently but Tuberville's floor was mostly higher. The fact that Tuberville brought the most solid team in modern Auburn history helps his cause too.

Tuberville> Gus

you cant just run OL down the field 10 yards every passing play and cut block every running play in the NFL.

Could you whine some more? Saban's OL has gotten caught up-field too.

it was a designed part of the system with malzahn, as was wearing out the refs so they couldnt catch all the illegal shite that was going on. thats why malzahn was perfect for auburn. he was a cheapshot corner cutting coach and you guys are a cheapshot corner cutting program. perfect scumbag alliance

Tubbs was good at developing players and putting together a very physical team.

Those AU/LSU wars were brutal and most all of them had SEC championship implications riding on them.

Malzahn was the best pure coach. Tubberville might have won more or beat Bama more, but he was more of a shitty politician than anything else. I wouldn't trust that turd walk my dog to take a dump. Have no idea how he got elected as a senator.
