Me too. 2010 Auburn needed a last second field goal to beat UK...

2004 Auburn needed a retry extra point to beat LSU

ETA: Cam's throw as he was being pushed out of bounds in the UK game was SICK

Probably the '38 through '40 Tennessee Vols under Neyland. They had just about as impressive of an overall run as anything in the history of college football.

Agreed except they lost to Tommy Trojan and Notre Dame jr and those sins may be too great to be forgiven.

Keep in mind that Neyland didn't show up for bowl games and most of the team didn't either. Bowl games didn't have much weight back then.

I think Alabama's 2009 team is the strongest and most well rounded team of the modern era SEC (post 1980). The talent they had on the roster was staggering in retrospect.

I thought they lost their three time All-American running back to a knee injury just before the Rose Bowl in '39?

The 1998 Tennessee team was really, really good. They had a lot of people get drafted do well in the pros and would have had more if they weren't in jail

23-16... doh

so was 09 Bama thou. Both were great but I'll lean to Bama because of Saban.

Cam Newton

should he really be considered part of the 08 team?

The big difference is that 2008 Florida had elite QB play. Bama did not. 2008 Florida also beat teams by much bigger margins although 2009 Bama played a tougher schedule.

All I remember about that game is the pick-six. Thing of beauty, it was.

The 1998 UT team did have a load of talent, but they didn't dominate teams like '08 Florida did.

I know you hate on McElroy but he was solid...did you miss the game against basically the same UF team that year?

it wasn't exactly a daunting schedule despite what you may have heard. Look it up a lot of those teams were freaking terrible that year.

Don't get me wrong they were a bad arse team, one of my favorites of the BCS era but they weren't invincible by any means.

The biggest difference is that the '08 Florida team was just crazy explosive on offense. Percy Harvin was a man among boys.

'08 and '09 UF were NOT the same team. This was evident from the very get-go of the '09 season.

No, they didn't win everything pretty, but I can't remember them every being in a game where I was like "they should lose this game." I remember it well because I was talking so much shite about the SEC being overrated and how they couldn't hang with FSU.

The 1992 Alabama team should probably be up there too.

Because if they did, General Neyland doesn't lose them.

1938-1940 regular season record 30-0. They outscored their opponents 823-42. Wow.
