Bill Wade played QB at Vandy from 1949–1951 and was named SEC Player of the Year and a second-team All-American in 1951. Wade was the No. 1 pick in the 1952 NFL draft, taken by the Los Angeles Rams. He ended his 14-year professional career after leading the Chicago Bears to the 1963 world championship.

Coach Bryant.

This^^ He may not have been the greatest player, but he came back to coach and became the greatest college football coach of his time. All people think of Coach Bryant when they think of Alabama football.

Alabama does not really have a "face" to their program. That certainly is not a bad thing. The face of Alabama football is one team that for decades runs the ball and hits you in the mouth.
