Frankly, I do if the series keeps going like it has the past 5 or so. Rivalries take time to develop and Arkansas hasn't played at a high enough level until recently. We'll see.

True..

The way the series is as I see it today...Arkansas gets up for LSU more than LSU gets up for Arkansas. (fans and teams)

is that right no?

is that what happens? I think so

No, I don't think so. If LSU doesn't, they are slow learners.

We don't really have a true rival, and I'm cool with that. If we sucked, then I would hate not having one. Rivalries are all that shitty schools have to hang their hats on. But oh well, I would like to have a very heated rival, but I'm not losing sleep over the fact that we don't.

If A&M makes the move to the SEC (I doubt it), then I think we will. But for the time being, I think we've got a very mild one with Arky, and a historical one with Ole Miss. I'd love to see the Ole Miss one pickup a bit more honestly, but it's been dying for a while.

Then you would figure LSU would murder Ole Miss each season. Seem like close games every year except for a few games.

2000: 9-20
2001: 35-24
2002: 13-14
2003: 14-17
2004: 24-27
2005: 7-40
2006: 20-23
2007: 24-41
2008: 31-13
2009: 25-23
2010: 36-43

You figure that LSU would have more dominate games in the past 10 years instead of squeaking by.

I agree, but we don't really blow anybody out with regularity. I think he means that rivalries get more heated when there is more on the line. If we had a bunch of top 10 matchups, it would mean more and intensify the rivalry.

probably still true

should be different this year IMO - since arky won the last two times

There wouldn't be any overlooking Arky if they were the higher ranked team with a better record when LSU played them... but I'm not sure when the last time that was true

This. Forget Arky, Ole Miss, Bama and the Barn. I want A&M.

Time to go re-watch the cotton bowl tonight.

It shouldn't be that way. Why do you have to be ranked higher to want to win? Arkansas has been competitive with LSU the last 5 or 6 games. Lame excuse.

Yeah, not much of a rivalry anymore, margin of victory is pretty meaningless

I don't think its true that Arky cares more about this game than we do or anything b/c the game is huge for us as well....but damn it seems like they play their best game of the season right after Thanksgiving every year.

yes...that 2003 game was great, but those are few and far between these days

why did arky struggle with Ole miss the last couple years?

why does ole miss struggle with miss state (overall ole miss is better over the last decade or century - but they play competitive games)

Overconfidence is a bad thing when the other team doesn't buy into it

I wouldn't say we struggled with them this past year. The year before? Yes. We didn't have leaders on the team and it showed.

Just saying, if LSU is overconfident... they need to buck up or they will continue to have problems with Arkansas. Bad mentality.

Arkansas has not been immune to it so I'm not calling out LSU only.

Still one of the best games I've ever seen. That was a fun game.

It changes for us. From 2000 till 2006 it was Auburn. From 2007 to the present it's Alabama.

Which is another way of saying that we don't have a true rival.

Well frick I'm never going to be able to go.
The separate divisions thing really could affect the atmosphere if both teams know they'll play next week. Maybe it won't happen much, but it may if both teams are good.

It's not even that both teams need to be good, but Michigan is getting to the point where they're getting apathetic. Once they at start beating OSU or ate least posting better records the intensity will get back up and you probably won't see this.

completely agree

but I'd much rather play Arkansas early in the season instead of trying to manufacture a rivalry with that ridiculous boot trophy (look it's LA with a hat)

I think Arky under Petrino will be solid but for them to be circled on the calendar like Florida and Alabama have been the last couple years Arky is going to have to break through and have Alabama or Florida type success

To me as a LSU fan Arkansas is what sucks about a SEC schedule... you've got your obvious national powers loaded with 4 and 5 star players winning NCs and BCS bowl games... and then you've got this other fricker on your schedule you can't forget about or they beat you

all i see is 8 wins, seems pretty dominating to me.
