Not trying to be a dick or anything, but you would know if you really had one. Rivalries are awesome.

Maybe when you play in as shitty a conference as the big 11.

I know you're an Irish guy now, but OSU-Michigan is the best, IMO.

That being said, it will be ruined if the Big 10 doesn't put them back in the same division soon.

It's not like they've never had one. Just like Arkansas, we had one and yes... it was big and nice to experience but really, it was so long ago that most fans don't know the difference in not having one.

In order for it to be a rivalry LSu would have to start winning some of these games

I'm pretty sure you can ask Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, etc and they'd tell you the same thing.

LSU has had big rivalries. Conditions changed that affected those rivalries.

Tulane during and post their SEC days used to have a quality program and was "the" in-state rival. Their football program then fell of the map.

After Tulane, LSU and Texas A&M REALLY settled into a rivalry for most of the 20th century.

Now I am not so sure...

Bama has won 3 of the last 10.

Had this series not been cancelled this would be one of the most bitter rivalries in the Nation.

I'd rather beat these teams in this order

1. Texas- We could be playing Ice Hockey, I dont care
2. Ole Miss- Obvious reason here.
3. Texas A&M- Old conference rival. They are odd
4. Auburn- Obvious
5. Alabama- Renown kings of the SEC
6. LSU

seriously? Ole Miss at #2 overall? Who cares if they have your old coach... seemed like 75% of Arkansas fans wanted him gone

but the series is split evenly at 14-14-1 over the last 29 seasons, including 2-2 during Saban's 4-year tenure at Alabama.

I think so, too. Haven't been to an ND-USC game, yet, but I highly doubt it will beat OSU-Michigan. It's just a different kind of rivalry. ND has a lot of rivalries with a lot of teams (unlike Ohio State) so it takes away a bit from the USC rivalry, plus the fact the teams are further apart and the ND-USC is more about the tradition of the teams, less about the fanbases hating eachother. Still a great rivalry, but IMO, OSU-Mich and Bama-Auburn are a notch above all the others.

ETA: And I agree, separating them was a mistake.

Have you visited the rant lately?

They are trying to revive an old SWC rivalry with the SWC Classic but that's not going to happen either, imo.

If you have to ask you don't have one.

And when you're the only SECW team that plays Florida every swingin' year you don't really need one. Because of the way the inter-division schedules are set up LSU typically plays the toughest conference schedule year in and out. Florida, 'Bama, Ole Miss, MSU, Arkansas and certainly the Barners pull out all the stops to beat LSU every year and vice versa. That's six huge rivalries each and every year. WTF difference does it make if none of the six say "LSU is our biggest rival." The only thing that matters is scoreboard. And for the past decade LSU has done that better than anyone else in the SEC.

Damn I didn't realize it was this close either over the last 30 years.

Agreed. ND/USC may be different if they were in the same conference. One being in a conference they've historically dominated (I think, could be wrong) and one being Independent, it's hard to have the same effect. The reason OSU/Michigan was always so great was that game in many years was the de facto Big 10 Championship game. This was the first year I was at the game in person. It's awesome. Being around the OSU/Michigan rivalry makes it clear that in state rivalries aren't necessarily better than out of state rivalries.
