Bama has not lost in over a year. LSU has, and is using an interim coach after firing their head coach mid season. So yeah, everyone is going to give the reigning national champions more credit, and will assume they beat LSU until proven otherwise.

Sagarin's Rankings
He has our SOS at 11, still better than LSU. And we are the only team that is 4-0 against his top 30.

It's weird too, all I hear about is how LF7 is the greatest player in the last 25 years or so. Why is bama even allowed to play? I sure hope we can put our pants on without shitting them first.

UR-Wisconsin (5-2) - Loss
Jacksonville State (FCS) - WIN
UR-Mississippi State (2-5) - Win (almost loss)
UR-Auburn (5-2) - Loss
UR-Missouri (2-5) - Win
UR-Southern Miss (4-3) - Win
23-Ole Miss (3-4) - Win
The combined record of teams LSU has beaten (FBS only) is 11-17 with Southern Miss being their signature win.
Let's compare that to the other three contenders in the SEC West:
Alabama
20-USC (4-3)
Western Kentucky (5-3)
19-Ole Miss (3-4)
Kent State (2-6)
Kentucky (4-3)
16-Arkansas (5-3)
9-Tennessee (5-2)
6-Texas A&M (6-1)
Alabama's wins are a combined 34-25
Auburn
2-Clemson (7-0) - LOSS
Arkansas State (2-4) - WIN
17-Texas A&M (6-1) - LOSS
18-LSU (5-2) - WIN
UL-Monroe (2-5) - WIN
Mississippi State (2-5) - WIN
17-Arkansas (5-3) - WIN
Auburn's wins are a combined 16-19.
Texas A&M
16-UCLA (3-5) - WIN
Prairie View (FCS) - WIN
Auburn (5-2) - WIN
17-Arkansas (5-3) - WIN
South Carolina (3-4) - WIN
9-Tennessee (5-2) - WIN
1-Alabama (8-0) - LOSS
Texas A&M's FBS wins are a combined 21-16
So, for the mathematically challenged in regards to strength of wins:
Alabama > Texas A&M > Auburn > LSU
Jacksonville State (FCS) - WIN
UR-Mississippi State (2-5) - Win (almost loss)
UR-Auburn (5-2) - Loss
UR-Missouri (2-5) - Win
UR-Southern Miss (4-3) - Win

This is definitely your best chance in a while to knock us off, although I still think Bama should be the favorite since we're the better team this year. But keep in mind that if you don't beat us this year, you'll have to wait at least a few more years until you have a legitimate chance to do so. You're losing a TON after this year, and the '17 game in TTown could get out of hand like in '13 and '15, in '18 there's a good chance that you'll be starting either a true freshman or redshirt freshman at QB and there could be some growing pains, and in '19 you'll back in TTown.

5 teams that were ranked when we played them.
Losing to us not only tends to move you down in the rankings, teams get so beaten up by us they frequently lose their next game too.

If we lose to New Mexico State, Sumlin will be fired on the spot. They have the worst defense (127 scoring, 128 total) in the country.

We haven't proven a goddamned thing. I really don't get the #1 ranking. Maybe if we were killing it in the toughest division of college football and destroying everybody we played. Oh wait....
