TBH I expect Pruitt to be better than Smart. He may not win as much, but I think he'll do a better job with what he's inherited, and recruit to improve the talent level as well.

My main concern is that he may have become a head coach too soon for his own good. He may also just be better suited to be a coordinator

I don’t see Dabo leaving Clemson right now. All coaches are making mega bucks so just offering a little more money is not worth uprooting a family and leaving job security to come into the meat grinder that is the SEC. I think Bama will have to make several calls before hiring the next coach JMO

I don’t know how anyone would want to be “the guy” after Saban. GOAT coaches generally don’t succeed GOAT coaches, and any drop off at all that is sustained will most likely not be tolerated.

Hard to argue there. I mean we got Ray Perkins to succeed Bear, and freaking Mike Dubose to succeed Stallings.

Making the right hire is really freaking hard.

It really is. You just don't see the first hire being the guy to often. Just ask TN, FLA, USC, FSU, NEB, TX, and the list goes on.

Gross, glad LSU is stuck with him. ETA: In all seriousness, there is no reason for LSU's defense to not be at least top 10, with all the talent y'all have. Not sure why Canada's defense isn't performing better. Other years he's been pretty good though.

You serious, Clark?

Dave Aranda is the DC.

Canada is former OC that shifted the offense 15 seconds straight during pre-snap of every play.

We cut him loose so he could be the next great Bama coach.

Gumps didn't start thread. Gumps didn't name Dabo. Gumps have a coach. And Dabo being a gump himself knows something about winning. And he knows being the only SEC level program in the weakest league in America is the ticket. He's not about to not jump into the SEC west. HTH.

Dabo and his wife are from Pelham. Very few in this profession get to come home. It’s the only place Dabo would go, and it may be the reason Venables is staying put. There may t be a succession plan in place. I don’t know if Dabo is right for Alabama.

Cristobal would need to show he’s not a flash in the pan and can maintain a program.

Campbell needs to win more. Rhule maybe but I think he is looking at the Cowboys job.

Rhule will have to fight it out with Lincoln Riley for Cowboys job.

Whoever it is, I bet they're already on the list for Bama's AD, Greg Byrne. Ole Ninja didn't waste time replacing Avery Johnson which spoke volumes in how he operates: He must've already had his candidate, and he hired someone with no south east ties in Nate Oats.

We'll make an attempt at Dabo, he'll turn us down and then we'll go after the real target.

Was that what happened with RichRod or was it a genuine egg in face moment? Memory is starting to fade

Agree. Dabo will play Bama for a nice bump in the pay check at Clemson, then stay in the ACC where it's safe.

What we do know is he won't be Saban and Dabo isn't leaving the ACC and Clemson, no way no how!

At the celebration of the 92 team last year (I think)- Dabo told his old teammates he’d crawl through glass to be the Coach at bama.
