What was so special about that 2012 team? Outside the beef of the offense, that was not my favorite team by any stretch. They beat people up pretty bad but overall the defense was lacking in some areas and the return game wasn't as good as the other years. Would put 2015 Bama ahead of 2012.

I just remember them beating up everyone they played by 30, but I'll defer to the Bama fan on this one.

2008 Florida is the easy answer here but why aren't we including 1996? That UF team has an argument too.

Let me tell you this friend.

No team on that list could beat the Auburn team that showed up in Atlanta for the 2010 Championship game.

For all the Tebow thumping going on I personally feel that Percy Harvin was as important if not more. He was a hell of an athlete.

2012 Bama and 2008 UF were the most complete teams. AJ McCarron had 30 tds in 2012 with only 3 interceptions. The Bama offensive line was beastly with Lacy and Yeldon running through huge holes. Amari Cooper on the outside was scary as a freshman. CJ Moseley, Millner, and Ha- Ha Clinton Dix lead the defense.

The 2008 UF team was so fast and had so much talent. Percy Harvin was ridiculous in that offense. Haden and Janoris Jenkins on the outside with Carlos Dunlap pass rushing and Spikes in the middle.

2011 Bama had an all time defense, but it was before Amari and after Julio. Marquis Maze was the number # 1 Wr and AJ was a 1st year starter.

2015 is disqualified because of Dom Jackson started at RT and was a turn style. Jake Coker was no AJ. The defense was much better in 2015, but not enough to compensate for Dom Jackson.

2011 Bama was the best team I've ever seen. LSU was extremely close but Bama had a little bit better offense.

You lose that argument if you lose a game in the regular season.

Not really.

I think 2008 Florida was a better team than any of those undefeated SEC teams. Someone may disagree and that's fine. I just don't think being undefeated necessarily holds more weight when that UF team ultimately accomplished the same goal while winning every game by multiple scores.

Team means both Offense and Defense and the mental aspect of the game. When you lose a game, some element of the team broke down and prevented them from winning. Most Bama fans think the 2010 team was one of their most talented, yet they lost three games.

Only undefeated teams should be considered.

In my opinion, no team (since 1998) in the SEC had a better collection of offense, defense and special teams than Florida did that year.

It doesn't really matter that they weren't undefeated because every team in the discussion finished #1.

All 11 offensive players Bama 2012 made the NFL and the offensive line was probably the best of the modern era. The QB threw 30 tds with 3 interceptions and Amari Cooper, Yeldon, Lacy, were exceptional skill players.

The defense also pitched 4 shutouts and never gave up 30 pts in any game. Murray and Manziel had success against them with 28 and 29 pts. Everyone else was smothered.

2008 UF was great too and they definitely were better on special teams, but I think 2012 Bama was better slightly on offense and slightly better on defense due to scheme not personnel.

They lost because of a poor coaching decision. After the loss, the coaching strategy changed and they literally became unbeatable. They were dropping 50 on SEC teams without trying and held one of the all time greatest offenses ever (minus their starting RB, I'll concede) to 14 points. They beat an undefeated Nick Saban coached team while missing their own best player.

3 longtime NFL starters on the OL
4 deep with NFL WRs
4 of the best special teams players in the SEC post-2000
2 pro bowlers at CB
3 NFL players at S
DE led the conference in sacks and has made multiple Pro Bowls
TE should have been a multi-Pro Bowl NFL player, but he was a thug piece of shite
One of the best QBs in SEC history
One of the best AP players in SEC history
Cousin Eddie, Charlie Strong, and Urban Meyer on the coaching staff

You can be the "best of 20__" by winning most of your games.

You cannot be the best ever when you have a loss.

It does not mean that undefeated teams are always better than ones with a loss but when we are talking "greatest"..........any teams with a defeat need not apply.
