I guess it's almost like batting average: If you're hitting .300, you're pretty darn good
If you're hitting .380, you're world class
Despite all his mistake hires, I'm nominating Frank Broyles. He hired Lou Holtz, Eddie Sutton, Norm DeBriyn, John McDonnell, Nolan Richardson, and Dave Van Horn.
He also did this while sitting next to Keith Jackson commentating college football games.
What a legend.

You’re nominating a guy who has an award named after him? Way to go out on a limb

So he hired a bunch of people who never won a national title for his school?
It’s hilarious that people think all ADs do is hire people.
But by your metrics, Scott Woodward hired:
Kim Mulkey
Jay Johnson
Buzz Williams
Jimbo Fisher
Brian Kelly
Chris Petersen
Steve Sarkisian
And I dislike Scott Woodward

okay, so the irony is that he's probably #1 of all time, and yet all the while, his missed hires prolifically outweigh his great hires
He even fired some of his greatest hires.

Hands down has to be Jeremy Foley.
Ignore that dumbass Caw.
Jeremy Foley's resume cannot be beat, he hired:
Billy Donovan (2 national championships and 4 total final fours)
Urban Meyer (2 national championships)
Kevin O'Sullivan (1 national championship and 3 total CWS final appearances)
And a lot of other coaches that won nattys.
He's unmatched to hire across the different sports with that success.
But dumbassCaw will claim he's killing our program.
Ignore that dumbass Caw.

Ultimately, it is all they do.
It's...all...they...do.

I'm still gonna chuckle when he calls you a uaa plant/disney gator... but you're not wrong about Foley having quite the 90s-201x run.

Go talk about your conspiracy theories on the poli board. You fit in well there.
Leave that shite out of this board.

Can you believe it? Urban Meyer actually chose Touchdown Jeremy over Touchdown Jesus. Actually, UF Athletics Director Jeremy Foley had little, if anything, to do with this hire. This was Bernie’s baby from the beginning — the very beginning.
quote:
Meyer may have officially become the football coach at the University of Florida Friday, but he was actually hired last October when Bernie Machen, his former boss at Utah, was named the new president at UF. In other words, this entire “comprehensive” national search was a ruse all along, a smokescreen just so Machen could bring his boy with him from Utah.
Machen basically forced foleys hand to hire Meyer. Who has he hired football wise besides Meyer?
Ron Zook, Will Muschamp, and Jim McElwain.
Quite a resume.
Billy Donovan was a great hire and a lucky one. That is really the only good hire foley has ever made on his own for any of the major sports.
He’s a terrible AD with his cronies like Chip Howard still lurking in the uaa and telling Stricklin to bark like a seal at their dictations to hire losers like Billy Napier

Not for football. Awful, awful hires.

Urban Meyer (2 national championships)
We both know the real reason why Urban took the UF job.

Not for football. Awful, awful hires.
Now that facilities are obsolete, and all the top football programs are focusing on NIL, foleys bff Chip Howard is actively trying to sabotage nil efforts so that boosters can fund his shiny new $500 million dollar stadium kitchen

It wasn't solely because of Machen. Was he a big part of it? Absolutely.
But Foley had a massive role in it. If we had a flimsy football program at the time, Urban would not have come here, even with Machen.

Frank Broyles built Arkansas athletics from just football to basketball, baseball and track teams who are respected. He also got us into the SEC which is huge for our program.
I was around from where he started to where we are now and what he accomplished is remarkable.
Whether those in our fanbase like him or not they owe their fandom to what he did to get us here.

And we weren't a "flimsy" program because of Spurrier - who was hired by Foley's predecessor.
