It cost UGA one last season and very well could cost either UGA or Texas one this year. Unlikely but it could.
I meant going forward in the new format. UT and UGA are in even if one of them wins 100-0 this year.

Winner gets a 1st Rd bye in the CFP.
While this is true, teams in the CFP who don't play for their league championship get a bye that week. So, if your record is good enough to make the championship and you lose that game, every team in the playoffs get a bye week except the loser of the championship game. That's stupid.

The SECCG is now a meaningless exhibition. Don’t care and likely won’t watch.
The winner doesn't have to play another game until New Year's Eve, but okay lol.

As I said earlier, I’d rather beat the hell out of Indiana or Arizona State at home, then draw SMU or Boise in the quarters than find my team sitting at home for a month before playing Bama, Georgia, or Texas on a neutral site.

1) SMU and Arizona State would be a solid favorite against Tech, and Tech just gave Georgia way more than we wanted.
2) I don't think that Georgia is consistent enough to win 4 playoff games. We might not be consistent enough to win 3, but at least it'd increase our probability.
3) What NFL team in NFL history ever said "you know what, I wish that we didn't have a bye in the playoffs."

Georgia playing like shite against Tech doesn’t make SMU or ASU a good team. Tech is not good.

These aren’t professionals and this isn’t the NFL. I don’t think college teams chilling for a month while their opponent is playing will be favorable—particularly against good teams.

This poll is pointless. The only people who are pulling for the Longhorns have the same logo I do beside their username.

If Tech is "not good," why the hell would you want to play an even better team if you don't have to (a first-round bye)?

I did not expect to see so many bama fans rooting for uga.

In reality it's more about not wanting to see a first year SEC team win the conference. I kinda get that, but it seems the Big12, B1G and ACC will likely have new members as conference champs as well.

Because I don’t think SMU or ASU are much better, if any, than Tech. And I don’t want my college team playing a Bama or Texas tier team on a neutral field after my players have been sitting on their arse for a month. Just my preference. A month off, playing a talented team that is coming off actually playing a game isn’t ideal to me.
I wouldn’t want a bye if I got an easily winnable first round home game instead.

Make a profound point about the impact of injuries next and how any player injured in the SECCG would have 4 weeks to heal, and any player injured in a first round game would have 10 days to heal.
