Losing one full day of practice during game weeks is much more significant than it sounds. Usually coaches have players watch film on Sunday, light practices on Mon-Tues, and game preparation Wed-Fri. This could certainly alter how coaches plan for games if it carries over into the season, and not limited to fall practice.

It just doesn't say what score gets you in bowl ban area.

not really. money and exposure are probably far more important to schools in the long run

You think having 20% less prep time than their opponents won't affect their bowl eligibility?

Maybe the rumors that so many were getting suspended are true and the NCAA panicked b/c they knew that would make it nearly impossible for the bowls to have enough teams.

That's actually an upside for me.

Tennessee had better hope for nearly a perfect score this year otherwise, UT will be looking at some problems.

I'm sorry, can someone actually post an official link showing Kentucky is in trouble with the APR? Seems like the athletic program as a whole is doing wellLINK

Oh, can Dipshit Nick link how the Mizzou BB team is doing with the APR

I would hope the missed practice is replaced by required study time, tutoring, etc.

It does, mandatory study hall replaces the practice time.

In basketball you first lose a scholarship for a year, then you lose practice time and have a post season ban.

If you lose practice time in football then turn in another below min score, you are looking at a bowl ban and further sanctions.

Actually, here are the two figures that will be in the four-year calculation for each program:

AU - 943; 950
LSU - 964; 944
MSU - 959; 967
UAT - 970; 978
UAF - 936; 938
UF - 972; 968
UGA - 970; 968
UK - 951; 943
UM - 933; 944
USC - 966; 966
UT - 931; 924
VU - 978; 973

Based on those numbers, it doesn't look like any SEC schools are in danger of going below the 930 four year average. The database doesn't have 2012-13 or 2013-14, so I guess it's still possible though.

To a degree, sure but not enough to stop them from making one. They are still pretty much a lock to win 6 games with their schedule and overall talent.

I still think the bowl exposure and (more importantly) money that comes from the bowl is more important long run.

My guess is Mizzou

We're accused of living in the past all the time. Well, almost all ranters are living in the recent past with regard to UT. We're going broke, we're flunking out, our stadium's falling down. Mike Hamilton and Derek Doolander are gone. My advice to everyone else is focus your attention on whoever's cheating for you - there's your problem, it ain't us.

Tennessee is close. Not that a bowl ban means anything to them of course.
