quote:Bama can buy the recruits and Auburn can manage all the sports. Auburn athletics is better overall in most sports outside football and that will be covered by buying the 5*s.
Auburn can mow the practice field grass and Alabama can keep being the super athletic department it already is.

I would loathe every single nano-second of having to associate myself with them (though I do it for Falcons games, so cest la vi), but UGA.
Georgia and Alabama, with their deranged fanbases, funding, fertile recruiting base, and the Atlanta TV market would be an unstoppable force in the big-3.

MS doesn’t have enough population for to SEC athletic programs. Had State and Ole Miss been one school, I think we would have pretty damn good at a lot is sports.
They'd be LSU. TBQH, they should consider giving it a go.

Alabama and Kentucky. You get two of the best in the only real money making sports.

Honestly Alabama would be a good match. All star football, all star baseball, all star women's basketball, all star gymnastics, all star softball.
The only thing missing would be men's basketball which we're just both meh at. Bubble NCAA/NIT usually for both

I would say UF and LSU would have the best all around.

It would be amusing to watch a combined LSU/Arkansas track program, men and women.
The women's team would be so dominant they would have to change the title of the NCAA championship to the Arkla invitational.

I think UF, UGA, aTm, LSU. combo of some sort.
Anybody who did not pick Florida would be silly. They compete for the Directors Cup every year.
In the past UGA would be a good pick, but we seem to have fallen off a bit overall.

But which football team do you keep?

You could apply this to all schools but the proper way to do it would be to find a school's strength and weakness and then inversely match them up with a school who fits:
1. Alabama (great at football but lousy at basketball especially in proportion to its football) -> UK
2. Georgia is actually a very good all around school except basketball is lacking (not as bad as Bama is though), so Kentucky would be a good match too. This might be the best matchup in the SEC especially considering the players one could recruit from Georgia.
3. Florida could match up well with Alabama or LSU. Though Florida has the goods in this list.
4. Arkansas would match up well with anybody as they are very needy in many things except maybe baseball. Same goes for the land mass schools. Probably more so, I hate to say.
5. Best all around school? Might be LSU actually. In fact I would say for sure that it is edging Georgia out.
6. I don't know what Auburn could provide to be honest as they are usually a liability year in and year out.
That's all I got.

We are fairly solid in the tier 2 (3?) sports. Paired with a school that has a pulse in track and field the combo (if we took their men's track coach instead of ours) would probably be good for 2 or 3 national titles a year. An Arkansas/LSU or Arkansas/A&M women's track team would easily give the NCAA championships the ole razzle dazzle.
