On paper maybe.
But you flash an Aggie ring around and you will jump into a pool of nepotism no other SEC school can match.

U guyz, college towns are almost always better than non college towns.
This thread is dumb and for dummies. And trolls.
At least we all went to SEC schools.
As for the Waltons being benefactors, their foundation is a big donor, to the school and to the town and metro. The Waltons gave a $300 million donation once. That's pretty good. Its kind of an ask and ye shall receive. But support is almost entirely non-sports from the Waltons.

I think Kentucky is a great state and I'm glad they are in the SEC. My problem with the "new" SEC is that we have diluted the southeast by allowing a Midwest school and a tejas school in. nothing against either university but they are not in the southeast and they have few real southerners that attend. no grits, no y'all, no sweettea, no jack daniels, no southerner. things like howdy, cowboy hats, red dirt country, you guys, Midwestern food, etc mark these schools to be from different regions. and this year, they cost all of us money. hopefully, the SEC network will at least make them a financial asset instead of a liability. AND, at least Missouri has some great bar-b-que.

Nice opinion......

so you say. I grant that you aggies stay together and help each other but vanderbilt has as strong or stronger alumni networking base. in Nashville, vandy grads never want for a job. but the fact remains that getting the job is one thing, keeping it and elevating one's career is completely different and it doesn't matter where your degree is from.

Have you been to all of those campuses?

Not sure any SEC school would be "bad." We're not talking a group of craptastic commuter schools that are basically glorified community colleges filled with local kids burning through mommy and daddy's meager savings just so they can pretend for a semester or that they aren't destined to become assistant manager at the local Circle K by age 37. Those types of schools are the ones I'd dread. SEC schools are all, to some greater or lesser degree, decently collegiate and filled with much more interesting people than you'd encounter at the commuter schools.
That said, I would never want to live in Starkville. It just depressed me every time I went there.

No. They're not my type of places though. That's enough for me.

Either one of the Mississippi schools. They contribute nothing.

This thread is getting kind of nasty. We're all happy with where we went to school. Who cares what someone else thinks?

I don't think UT could seriously be on such a list. I base that solely on location / scenery.

not to be that person but has anyone mentioned that it would be 'a part' not 'apart'.

I think UGA folks think Athens is the Austin of the SEC. It's cringe-worthy. Athens is honestly less scenic than College Station, and y'all have a more retarded accent.

I know they're known for their "superior academics and athletics" but their fanbase/students seem like a different bunch. I really don't think I would enjoy it.
