I grew up in the suburbs of Knoxville. Between growing up in West Knoxville and UT, I have had very few interactions with hillbillies/rednecks. Once you get outside the city of Knoxville though things start to go down hill and fast.
As has been pointed out itt, Far East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, SW Virginia, and West Virginia are like another world.

The fact that you have LSU at 10 shows that you haven't been to any of these schools campuses and interacted with the students there.
IMO LSU is the worst Ive seen...completely different class of their own.

if you're talking about fans it's not even close. students? no. the number of redneck bama fans when they are winning is sickening. very much like dallas cowboy fans. my advice is to stay away from them. i'll bet most of the bama students do.

Have lived all along the coast (Ocean Springs, MS, Daphne, AL, Metarie, LA) as well as most of my life in MO. Most if these are based on the interactions with fans I've come into contact with. I wouldn't judge a fanbase on how those living around the campus behave.
