I would assume with a lot of track championships, that schools like Arkansas and LSU send a lot of their track athletes to the Olympics to represent the United States against the rest of the world.
Actually, schools like LSU, Arky, A&M, Florida, really all the SEC, has Olympic participants from all over the globe in T&F or Swim & Dive. They don't just compete for the US.

I think Florida leads in terms of athletics and academics, but Arkansas is undeniably the moral leader of the SEC.

Culture too, where else will you find a mix of jorts and guidos?

So I think those sports are notable.

Show me some average attendances for your track meets and we'll compare that to our average football attendance. Maybe that will eliminate opinions and give us a better idea how the two compare. Also, how many razorback track meets have you attended?
ETA: If it weren't for hog fans always using it to make up for their football program's lack of success, most of us wouldn't even know that Arkansas has 50 track NC's
Attendance records have nothing to do with the viability of a national championship. NCAA doesn't put a special asterisk next the national championships in sports that have a higher attendance than other sports. A national championship is a national championship. The simple fact of the matter is that Arkansas has the second most in the conference, and by far the most in men's. You can twist that however you like but facts are facts and we have definitely more than carried our weight in the SEC and have made it better as a whole.
I've been to several track meets by the way, not that that has anything to do with anything.

Soon Texas A&M will be in the running for biggest contribution.
By coming into the SEC A&M has brought in the largest single market... 25 Million people soon to be 35 million by the next census.
All those people didn't care about the SEC... but now that Texas A&M has joined they will become big SEC fans.
We have also opened up the state of Texas and its high school athletes (the best in the nation) to the other SEC schools.
And soon we will add to the SEC's national titles.

Would you say their national championships are comparable to crystal balls? Would you trade '03 and '07 in football for say 5 track titles?

I don't know, but some force out there, somewhere, caused you to mock LSU because Bama wasn't in the conversation...

I think Academics trump sports so I would say Vanderbilt has been shouldering that weight for a long time.

Florida is probably the most easily recognizable.
They have it all.
They have it all.

Why even bring up that y'all have more men's titles then if all national championships are equivalent? You're just picking and choosing to make your school relevant. The fact that no one in this thread has said Arkansas besides hog fans just goes to show how much all that track prestige accounts for

football - historically alabama
basketball - kentucky
overall - florida

SEC track athletes give recognition to the SEC globally when those schools pump out Olympians.
National football championships make the school's athletic program look good.
It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Did anyone watch the Olympics this summer? See how many gold medals UF athletes won?
